Default broken trans

I was driving home the other day and the Trans broke in my car. after looking at the car the shop said the car will not be covered because of all the mod's done to the car. I have a cold air intake, headers, exhaust, pulley, drop springs, rims. this is the second time in a year that the Trans has went out the guy said the shop told me last time that car would not be covered witch is BS I was never told that. any one have the same mod's as me?is your car still working fine?

I would need to have a pretty dam good explanation of how the mods you listed would have anything to do with the transmission before I would not be screaming up the ladder to Scion corporate about it. Sounds like BS from the data you have given.

2nd time in a year? If I were the shop, I'd be looking for reasons (even if it were stock) not to cover it either.

2nd time you've had the same problem with your xa? i'd check with your local lemon laws. that is why they are so hesitant to fix it maybe. if it breaks again under certain mileage/time, they have to buy the car back from you.

that's bs a tranny should not break over little mods like that especially cuz they really don't add that much power to stress the tranny at all...1 toyota made ur car its not that weal of a tranny if the car still has warranty take out all the "power" mods a pull it into the dealer and make em fix that sum b!tch

they finally told me what happened one of the gears broke. I called scion corp they said that they have to go with to dealer on this. I call another dealer the manger said that it dose not sound like the parts I put on would brake the Trans the only way I could do that is neutral drop it over an over. I have to take the car to them. the last time the valve body locked up and the car would not go out of park the guy I talked to this time said the last time they told me the car would not be covered and that they where going fix the Trans and not replace it . all i can say is bye bye box hello WRX

^^^
Agreed.

The dealership I go to at first denied my transmission work, too. However, through some takling with the head of the department, I was able to get it covered. Just keep "peeling back the onion" until somone says YES.

if you slam a car they will not cover much in the transmission area. even tho lowering can pretty much only mess up two things. valve bodies not being one of them

why? toyota pays their mechanics alot to do warranty work. In fact we look very very closely for anthing at all we can warranty so we get paid for it. Even if the customer doesnt complain about it.

"hey did you knw you have a dash light out?" pays 1 hour warranty!

not all dealerships suck.

well they are going to fix it now if they had told me that it was cus I lowered the car I would have sill fight it but I would not have been as ____ed off. they did not tell me a damn thing . I loved my car and I still do but I just don't want to keep it anymore I do not want to put up with it braking down so much. I will be parting it out I will put up a list of the parts I have . im going to trade it in and get a wrx or the 2008 lancer. thanx to all the help people on the site that have helped over the last two years

If your going to get a Mitsubishi make sure its an EVO... I personally HATE Mitsubishi except for the EVO the only real car they have ever made. The new lancer looks nice and everything, but i just don't trust their buiuld quality. The only good thing about the mitsu's is the amount of warranty they offer. I dont know about the states, but here in PR they are offering 10yrs or 100,000 miles, which is a great deal, if and ONLY IF, you leave the car OEM (which i doubt you will).

Trade the box and get a WRX you will be much happier with that then a lancer. FOR SURE!!! Even if its used...
