if im not mistaken he has a flip screen and its probably not letting him watch dvd's and he's wanting to not hook it up to the ebrake like he's supposed to...
there are two different firmwares for these dvd players depending on which u have depends on which setup you will need, if its brand new you probably on the new firmware...
by law they require you to have ur ebrake engaged in order to view movies or motion withint he drivers view...
old firmware... ground the wire to anything metal on ur vehicle and it should work...
new firmware... they passed a new law in an attempt to get people to stop bypassing, they now state you have to engage the ebrake disengage and reengage to view video int he drivers view, and their must be a 5 second delay before video can be viewed..
the way around this is... once agian ground to a peice of metal in your car and put a inline switch... put the switch to the on position... start your vehicle flip the switch off, then on, then off, then on agian and wait 5 seconds and the video should appear...
this is what i have done for my dual 7" flipscreen dvd player... i am sure there is another way to bypass but i've yet to come across anyone that can tell me a way that it will automatically do this for you when the vehicle is started.

you can bypass it even if it needs the pulse brake sequence.
power up your jensen, do the break sequence (engange for 5 seconds, off for 5 seconds, then engage) and make the video come up. once you do play a dvd, it HAS to be during the movie, not the previews or menu. after you ahve a dvd playing press stop, stop, 1, 2, 6, 4, on the remote.
youll see a menu that says:
Region Code
Brake Override
Macrovision (Watch all the burned and pirated movies you want if this option is off)
Loader Version
Model Version
set it to:
Region Code: 1
Brake Override ON
Macrovision: OFF
then hit the sys setup button twice to save your settings.
it is some times hard to enter the sequence, you gotta do it fast. some jensens come with 2 remotes, so make sure its the one with the sys button, since you need that to save the settings.
this will work on any model jenson or phase linear indash that requires the pulse ground ebrake.
this really does work, im an installer at circuit city, so ive done it before. oh and btw, it is against the law to watch video while your driving, plus its pretty dangerous. im not to be held responsible!

I KNOW THAT ON EBATY SOME GUY IS SELLING THE CODE FOR ALL JENSEN TV FOR LIKE $3 AND HE WILL EMAIL YOU THE CODE... BY THE WAY HOW DO YOU LIKE IT CAUSE I ORDER MINE THIS MORNING SAME MODEL
btw its not a law to have to pulse ebreak for indashes, all the pioneers, kenwoods, jvs, and eclipses all you need to do is ground. alpines need a power/ground sequence, and some of the pioneers need an even sneaker ground, gotta move a wire to a different pin and ground it. its possible to bypass all indashes, you just gotta know the trick :]
just becareful and keep and eye out of the law and if you must do bypass it use a switch so you can turn it on and off so it looks like it doesnt work if you get pulled over and whats with all the CAPS?
“ 11” Series Parking Brake Inhibit Wire
The VM9311 (Phase Linear UV7 also), VM9411, VM9511TS and VM9021TS incorporate a new video inhibit circuit. The Parking Brake Inhibit wire is the same as previous models – PINK. In order for video to be displayed, the pink wire cannot be simply “grounded, a brake (pulse) sequence must be completed before the head unit will display video. These instructions are clearly indicated in each operation manual for each unit, but this paper will explain the procedure for convenience.
Before starting the parking brake sequence, the head unit must be “ON” with video media (i.e. – a disc) inserted and playing. At this point, the blue warning screen with yellow writing will appear. The parking brake sequence can now be started. There are two situations, in which, the parking brake sequence can begin:
· Parking brake is engaged (ON) when the vehicle is started or ACC / IGN is turned ON. To activate video;
o Release parking brake for 1 ~ 2 seconds
o Reapply parking brake
o Video should be displayed on the TFT monitor within 1 ~ 2 seconds. If video is not displayed, then the brake sequence will need to be repeated. The timing window is 1 ~ 2 seconds, if the time is less than or greater than this time, video will not be displayed. Allow 10 seconds between repeated attempts or the video will remain locked out.
· Parking brake is not engaged (OFF) when the vehicle is started or ACC / IGN is turned ON. To activate video;
o Apply parking brake for 1 ~ 2 seconds
o Release parking brake for 1 ~ 2 seconds
o Reapply parking brake
o Video should be displayed on the TFT monitor within 1 ~ 2 seconds. If video is not displayed, then the brake sequence will need to be repeated. Allow 10 seconds between repeated attempts or the video will remain locked out.
Note: Depending on the vehicle, the brake “switch” may engage before the actual brake stops or reaches its end of travel point. This must be taken into consideration when applying the brake sequence. A few attempts may be necessary to familiarize the end-user with his or her vehicle.
