Now that the price for the new xB has been released, do we have a better guess at what the xD will run? I'm assuming it would be less... but by how much?
xb:
6202 5 Dr. Hatchback 4AT w/sequential $16,600
6203 5 Dr. Hatchback 5MT $15,650

but you have to rember they are not the same car like the xb1st and xa where they are 2 totally diffrent models so i would guess that the xd will be priced around 14,909 for manual and atomatic like 15,700 or something like that at least thats what makes sence

I expect prices to probably go up by $750-$1000 compared to the xA.

Well, they've successfully lost one potential customer! That price is outrageous.
So much for being an xA "replacement"... @ +$4k, I don't see how they can call it a successor. Does anyone else see the folly in Scion offering only 3 cars, all starting over $16k???

...auto xB $17180. w/freight , 55hp more , cruise , side/side curtain , 4" wider, foot longer, 10" more in cargo area and 16" wheels . still a deal .

The price mentioned was for the new xB, not the xD. Keep your folly holstered for now... the xD should stay under 16k

Add to that less leg room and less MPG and it is not such a deal...........

the xD is going to have to be priced right in line with the Honda Fit and most of all the Nissan Versa. they are nearly the same.
the Versa HB starts at $12,550 for the S and $14,550 for the SL
the Honda Fit starts at $13,850 and the Fit Sport is $15,170
...im going to say the xD starts at $13,990

price needs to be at around 14k to steal the market (first year perhaps)... 15k will see less sales but should do just fine(2nd or third year of release. anything more and you have better options for the price...

they'll sell it for $13,899 for the manual and $600 more for the auto.. it has to fit the bill of where the xA and xB left off where the economic car is still in a price point that's reachable and to not step on the toes of their yaris price range of $12k..
It'll make sense to make it $13,5 for the 5 speed because the Versa and Fit start off around that range, but Toyota is notorious for undercutting the price on the Scion line without sacrificing quality and components... see the new xB for example..

xB manual = 15,650
xB Auto = 16,600
If you figure the xD to be about 1500 less, that would mean:
14,150 for the stick and 15,100 for the auto, with ABS, side bags, pwr windows and locks, 6 speaker stereo with iPod direct connection, and keyless entry.
Add to that less leg room and less MPG and it is not such a deal...........

Let's wait till Honda and Nissan release their 2008 EPA ratings before we pass too much judgement, mmk?

Factoring in the change in calculation between the 2008 and 2007 model years (IE, all 2008 MPG estimates went down due to the government changing the formula), the difference between the xA and xD is about 1 MPG. Not worth mentioning, especially since the engine has a lot more power in the xD.

Toyota should under cut the Fit on price. You can get a fit sport auto for 15 and change with destintation due to the ability to bargin on the price. But honda's drive by wire is a big let down so hopefully the xD manual will fall under 14 without destination. That way owners will be able to do some mods without braking the bank. Mods on he xD are mandatory due to its stock appearance.

But then you'd have to hang out with Honda owners......*ewwww*
