hi guys, i have a feeling this idea won't go over well, and i havent been able to find anything like this through the search, anyways... i dont have much of money to spend on new wheels due to all my other obligations... but i would really like to get some 18's... so i got to thinking... alot of other cars have pretty cool stock wheels... what about a stock swap? i was thinking 18's off the rx-8... now i dont know the specs so the idea may be completely impossible... but buy stocks off another car, sell my oem tc wheels and potentially come out with a minimal loss on the bank account... good idea or totally dumb? i have a feeling people may not be into this idea at all... thanks for any feedback everyone.

 

im not sure around you but in my neighbor hood there are small independent tire/ wheel shops that seel sets that were taken off of cars.. the ones ive seen have been very cheap.. 3-500.. and in pretty good ocndition with nearly new tires.. its a good way to go. and you never knwo what you may find at thsse shops..

 

just save you money man, what you pay is what you get, and you wont be happy until you find something you 'like', rather than something you 'settle for'

yea you'll get yelled at by a lot of people for swapping stock wheels..

I would find a rim and tire combo online or on a forum and get them. If you're patient you can get a good deal. You should be able to sell your stock rims if you are patient for around $400. Just take your time and if it was me I would save my money and get exactly what I wanted..

It's a relatively novel idea, except for the fact that you should pay attention to bolt pattern. Not all cars are the same.

And also I got a set of Enkei's, new including shipping for under $400 from www.edgeracing.com

If you are looking for tires as well, I always recommend going with Sears...

But first find the ones you want elsewhere for cheaper. Like I did at tirerack.com.

Sears will match the cheapest price you can find ( as long as you print out proof ), and then beat it by 10%. And then you get the RoadHazard warranty which is valid at any Sears in the country, so if you have a problem they will replace or repair your tire either for free or at a minimal cost.

And before I forget they will align and rotate them for the life of the tire for free.

 

I'm sorry, but I wouldn't put anything on my car I bought from Sears, ESPECIALLY tires, I don't care how much crappy service they give me for free or whether they'll replace my tires or not, one of my best friends worked as a tech at Sears for a few years and of the horror stories I've heard, my car will never set foot within a hundred yards.

 

the 18" Enkeis or 19" TRD/Racing Harts are the only nice OEM upgrades for the tC. the only other 17" OEM you can use are the discontinued Matrix XRS wheels (they're all 16" now). everything else with the same bolt pattern is 14-16".

 

Well maybe it isn't your thing to go to Sears, but if you ( and even your friend ) can sit there and tell you that the tires that you get at Sears are crap than you are both idiots. -Name brands, brand new.-

Everyone has horror stories about everywhere they have had one thing or another done. That doesn't necessarily mean that it will happen to everyone else.

I have gone to Sears for tires since I got my first car and haven't had a single problem with service or anything. Let's see 30 yrs old now...that would be 12 yrs. That seems like a pretty good record to me.

( Oh, and I have had to get servicing in multiple different locations and cities. )

close, but no, those are Bridgestone Potenza RE050a on that ferrari 360 modena and we run Bridgestone Potenza RE-92's

 

nice idea, but do you really want to trade stock for stock?

 

The bolt pattern on the rx8 is larger than the tc. RSX, and WRX I know have the same size.
