Has anyone seen or posted any data pertaining to performance gains from modded suspensions on an xb?
Such as before and after, slalom times or track time, etc. I would really like to see what improvements it makes other than " it feels better in a corner"

I'd be willing to bet that most people haven't really done any before and after testing... I'll tell you that after springs and rear sway, it's a whole different car, but that's not what you want to hear.

When I put springs on my car (Tein S-Techs), i noticed a little difference in stiffness and body roll, but the thing that really made an improvement was the Strut Bar. Also, as far as getting more stick in corners, tires make more of an improvement over any suspension mod availible.

I noticed a smoother ride after changing to rear SensaTrac shocks.
I noticed flatter cornering with completely neutral steering after adding a TRD rear sway bar.
I noticed no difference when I put on a DC Sports front strut bar.
5000 miles later I noticed no difference when I removed and sold the front strut bar.

handeling is awesome. you need to do the whoel package not just this and that. DONT JUST GET SPRINGS! the shocks/struts make the ride so nice and smooth

Yeah, I've lowered and modded a few cars, both the right and wrong ways, I was just wondering if anyone had real numbers, such as did an xb go through a course a full second or two faster, etc, yanno what I mean?

My main reason for asking , I wonder if the lil box could be something worth putting on a track, I know the power isnt there, but is there sufficient handling, etc.

There was a post a little while back about an xA taking out an STI in a turn... it was no match in the straightaways but the egg dominated in turns.

I'm willing to say that, if you go full on in bracing, it'd be interesting to see.

hrm... where do i pick me up a rear sway bar? how much? (dont mean to threadjack, sould only take 1 responce...) i dont think you would GAIN anything major by putting them on, but it would feel different. could cause u do drive differently too....

I noticed an improvement in the ride with changing the springs, also added the TRD strut bar. definitely "feels" different around the cloverleaf on ramps, not as much noticeable body roll.

Like previously stated it's the whole phg. that makes a difference. To completely change the handling you have to go with...
1. better tires and lighter rims
2. drop springs up to 2 inches
3. rear sway bar a must
4. front endlink bushings
5. front strut bar

I've auto crossed mine and it does surprise people that thought it would be a joke. They laughed at first then their jaws hit the ground.

mrfuzzy4 , google is your friend. look for either TRD, Progress and Whiteline rear stabilizer bars for scion xB. Also consider shipping costs when making the descision on where to purchase.

You too, eh? I love the reaction of people at the autocross when they see my xB run. It usually happens in this order:

1. "You're going to run ... that?"
2. "Looks like it does pretty well out there ..."
3. "The people at my corner couldnt' believe how you and you car did out there. No one expected that!"

I've done two autocrosses with the xB, and faired pretty well (I would've taken 2nd place in my class if I hadn't have missed a gate; darn 10 second penelty). When set up decent, it really handles well.

My suspension mods are as follows:
-Tein S-tech springs on stock shocks
-Progress 22mm rear sway bar
-H&R TRAK 15mm rear spacers
-16" A-tech Finalspeed wheels with 205-50-16 Yokohama AVS ES100 tires (soon to be replaced with Rays Engineering Texan Shotungs. See thread[ur=http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=157153&highlight=]here[/url]

I'd like to get some better shocks or full coilovers next.

im telling you guys...get the trd shocks/struts its a whole different animal!

I'm just worried that the TRD struts aren't valved agressively enough for the occational autocross, which is why I'm leaning towards Koni Yellows or full coilovers.

i hear good things about the koni and tokico (i think). the TRDs are really good on the street. i push it down the back roads and i cant complain about them. probably going to get a rear swaybar at some point also

Are Koni and Tokico the only options for performance shocks?

koni, TRD & tokico (i think they have two versions now. one that is adjustable and one thats not)
