Default Is the TRD S/C really worh it....read

After reading threw many threads the question came to mind. Is the S/c really worth it for what I want to do. For me, I would just get the S/C and leave it be. Right now in my life I want the power, but the need the reliability and warrenty more so than the power. Going with a turbo set-up it would void everything and if I went the S/C route I could get the power but only a little. I heard somewhere that the S/C with no mods only adds 40whp, which would put the car shy of 190whp which is more than I have now, but it is it worht the $.

Maybe its just me over analysing it, but does anyone have any input or some stock numbers o I could make a better decision

Most people just a put a more powerful pulley and presto you got your 240 whp ...with i/h/e combo I believe?...Which is plenty fast if I was to do it. Although it voids the warranty.
I was wondering if your engine blew to say...If you could change the pulley out with the stock one could you still claim warranty or can they tell?

LOL but it seems everyone on this site wth the S/C skips the base dyo and starts adding stuff onto the car and then puts up numbers. I'm looking for a base S/C dyno to see i its worth getting, and then to what degree can u push it power/mod wise till the warrenty goes.

I had it with everything from a few mods custom engine management with 12 psi getting 250whp at 4000ft above sea level. I was never thouroghly impressed with the over all set up being use to other turbo'd cars of mine. But I know turbo and s/c are totally different things and my other car being an EVO MR its hard to impress me. But I will tell you one thing it is a TON better than power. And if you really wanted to you could get a plug and play unichip (netted 38whp with the stock pulley/k&n filter/megan exhaust with a custom tune) And are easy enough to pull out in minutes when you have to take your car to the dealer just a thought ;-)

My old car was turbocharged and loved the power, but hated the exhuast noise that it took to get the full power out of the set-up. I do more and more highway driving so I don't want some super loud exhuast note, I can deal with the belt noise but don't really any more noise. LOL i guess i'm getting old..but does anyone have a base dyno of the S/C with no other mods?

It really all depends on what YOU want. You've already stated that you want power and reliability and warranty, so with that, you're only limited to staying with the S/C stock.

Remember these three values
1.Cheap
2.Reliable
3.Fast

Choose Two and TWO only...

Well thats why I'm looking for a stock S/C dyno to see if the money is even worth it.not gonna drop 2500 on hardware and install for only 40-45whp

Yea cause its really nice when i'm asking for some data and someone comes in with a smart ___ answer. I know what is and is not attainable but I just some numbers to see if a stock S/C is worth the money or not. If I wanted REAL power I wouldn't bother with the tC because other motors have more potential with less of an investment needed. Like I said, if someone could find a baseline dyno of a S/C tC that would be very helpful, because all I have found on here are dynos of them with mods

9.5 pulley, draxas cat back exhaust and methanol i had 223whp/199trq ....but only gained 3hp w/ the methanol cause my car wasnt tuned.

Maybe you can find a dealer who might leave the cap off for you ..... the stock s/c with 9.5lbs will give you a few years of enjoyment before you want more power. With FI its like a drug ..... you can get as much power as you want. The main question is if your car can handle the power. Reading this forum you will know exactly how far you can push your car with different mods. SOOOO many people have tested all of the parts out for the scions. Its no longer a guessing game - read the posts and you will get the facts.

Did you ever do a dyno with the 6lb pulley (Which i believe its the pulley it comes with) and the stock exhuast? Because if I have read right the TRD reflash is configed for that. Anything else you would need extra tuning. Thats why I'm asking for a stock dyno of the S/C cause I can easily find how much power I would get with a catback, s-pipe, headers, etc and know how much tuning cost in my area. But it seems no one gets that here

Sorry if I offended you, didn't mean anything "mean" by it. The stock tC with a stock S/C only puts down anywhere from 180-185whp. Ask anyone, that's true. So there's your answer, and you don't need a dyno, cuz alot of people will agree with me that that's all you're gonna get with a stock S/C.
