Short Shifter Recommendation...
So i had a topic earlier about a clutch that gave you some sound when you shifted... but it turns out i was wrong as everyone told me off lol... but i watched fast and the furious again and my friend told me it was the short shifter that was "popping" into gear... ive seen videos of cars that have this, but idn what short shifter it is... without shutting me down and yelling at me, is there anyone out there that might know what short shifter sounds like it is popping into place? This is the video i am talking about

shifters do not make any noise unless they are installed wrong.
and Doc I isnt expensive, and it can be had with a 50% reduced throw yet retaining stock height, therefore it is harder to mis shift.

i think that some of it is sound fx but i know when you have turbo, clutch new tranny and all that other cool stuff yea you will a cool sound when you shift b/c of the everything syncing together and workign right other than that idk
it's not sound effects...it's a clutch that is for track use only that's gonna make that sound from the fast and the bi-curious...i mean furious movies...it is not the type of clutch to be used for daily driving
i have creative compacts..
how do I make my clutch sound like this??

Hi,
I work in the movie industry, specifically in sound recording, editing, and mixing. What is heard in The Fast & the Furious is a sound effect... probably a mix of a hand gun being cocked, a medium chain being rattled, an anvil being struck by a hammer, and a few other sounds layered together as he was shifting. The interior shots of that scene were shot with the car being towed by a "camera car" through a parking lot while the actor was be filmed shifting the car from multiple angles. Any audio recorded during that process would have been useless because of ambient production noise from the camera car's diesel engine, generator, squeaks and rattles from the tow dolly, about three very noisy film cameras mounted around the car, etc.
Short answer: there isn't a transmission, clutch, or shifter that will make that exact noise, it's just a little trick from us sound magicians here in "Hollywood" (or more accurately Burbank and Universal City
). However, you can get a Doc I's short shifter and cable bushings and listen to the shift linkages do their thing.
