Default Transmission Problem...

Transmission, Trans, Tranny, Mount, Mounts
I need a second opinion on a transmission problem I'm having. I have just recently had my new Spec Stage 2+ Clutch and street disk, Fidanza 2-piece aluminum flywheel, Corsport Clutch Bushings, and Axle/Hub assembly from the Driveshaft Shop installed in my 05 XB.

Since the install I have noticed a clicking noise. It occurs in all gears at all speeds randomly and sometimes it's not noticeable at all. At first, I played it off as the system seating itself during the break-in period. Now I've got 1500 miles on the new setup and it's still occuring.

An example:
(shift from 1-2 at 3k)
depress clutch - hear click (somewhere beyond firewall but can't pinpoint side or location), shift to 2nd, release clutch - hear click.

This also occurs if cruising in gear at low rpms or even fifth gear. If I abruptly let off the gas and then get back on the gas click-click.. It almost sounds as if something has play and is giving slightly to each accel/decel.

I took this back to the trans. shop that did the work and they drove it and said everything is tight, but they believe the transmission mounts need replacing. I've got 16k on the car total. The dealerships parts counter says they would suggest getting a second opinion before dropping $ on those mounts. I just can't find another shop to even give an opinion.

Anyone else dealt with anything like this?? I found some TC things in the search but nothing like this. If not the trans mounts, could it be the fluid? I'm running Amsoil Gear Lube -90. It may be too thin for this setup, especially during break in. Could it be installed incorrectly (even though I doubt it would run this great for 1500 miles if it was.) Could it be in the hubs/axles instead??? Anything will be appreciated. I just don't have a great "support staff" in the area I live in.

Thanks for reading.

Sounds like a similar prob i had with my 05 xb. On mine, I believe it was a clutch bearing problem that I had that was under warranty. Since you got new stuff it doesn't seem that we have the same prob, but everything you are describing matches what i was exactly going through. The dealer replaced my clutch and all was better. Good luck, let us know what happens.

It is possible the new bearing is bad. Would not be the first time a part was defective.

I guess I'll contact Spec then. Thanks for the input.
