you might want to try hardware stores, because i have gone to PepBoys,Kragen, autozone and they don't have 3M tape.

i bought the hardware kit from toyota, but i'm really thinking about just using the 3M tape, have any of you had experience with it?

i don't like the idea of drilling holes into my car

You are looking for red 3M tape, I've heard/read its strong although I believe there is a "special" one that a detail/body repair place may be able to sell you.

I purchase the red 3M tape from Wal-Mart. When I say red, thats the color of the backing you remove before applying.

i bought the 3M d-sided tape last night at Home Depot. Cleaned the area with rubbing alcohol and lined it up and mounted it. put some masking tape to hold it in place. this morning i went out to check it before the drive to work and the tape wasn't necessary. it held by itself. made it all the way to work. the fastest i was going was about 60MPH, though. but it held.

i ordered the hardware kit yesterday, should be in today. so when i have the courage and tools, i'll drill the holes in my hatch and permanently attach it.

I bought this one. I hope I get everything I need. The installation instructions don't mention tape. It does come with the hardware though.

Sorry, didn't read down enough
Did you end up drilling the holes. I kinda like the idea of maybe not having holes and being able to go wingless after 3 years of having it mounted.

nope. i didn't drill holes.

i bought the "hardware kit" for the spoiler from the dealer. it was $46 and when i pick it up, it's just a bag with 2 bolts and some plastic.

i could NOT justify buying $46 bolts and plastic...

Wow I can't believe you just used 3M tape to mount the spoiler. That seems kinda risky to me.
