This thread was made for two reasons....to satisfy the inquiring minds on scionlife.com about 1/4 mile times and to keep those same people in one place....not 45 threads in each forum...:-D

so like the title says, scan your timeslip, no playing with photoshop or anything, and let's see what these cars have!

This is completely stock. No changes, not even tire pressure...with about 4 gallons of gas... Best time was 17.2@79.90. Way too much wheel hop... I should be able to break 16s with my stock set up due to better launching and shifting skills...

Good reaction time on your third run.

You need to rev it higher, then launch hard!

Newer to the drag racing scene? :?:

I wasn't caring for reaction time. It was my first time on the track. I was trying to find my sweet spot in launching. Reaction times weren't a factor....

listen up!!! i did some cleaning in this thread...if the post if off topic, it will be deleted....i'm not going to sit and allow people with different cars talk ish on a scion just b/c they can register on the site....and i expect that you scion owners have enough respect for yourselves and the site that has been created for you and is FREE to you to not bother wasting time posting responses to asses like that....i'l take care of it...you just keep posting timeslips!!

Jeff

EDIT~ there will be no more flame wars in my thread...if you choose to do so do it in off topic so i can delete the whole thread....jackasses...

lets becareful we already went through this with the elemant owners and we squashed that one.

MR. aveo dude, just have your moderators delete the 3 topics in your website. We don't want this escalating more than it is already, I also noticed that one of your aveo owners was racisit in one of the posts. Lets leave it there, or delete it.

18.027 :D
76.85 MPH

BTW, my best r/t for that other time I ran was .565, but the slip is hard to read

Not saying I doubt you but 60' times like that dont really support 1/4 times like that, to get a time like that I'd think you'd have to have a higher mph???
It just looks odd is all I'm saying... your xB must have some bada$$ midrange!
I cut 2.3/2.4 60's and 86-88mph traps while posting 15.9-16.1 times...(not a scion...)

like car 5601 in your first slip... decent launch strong 2nd and bottom of 3rd but top end lags thus the low mph on his 16.0 run!

unlmtdndeavor, your 60's are horrible. If you get those down to say a 2.1 an easy 15.4 is capable. Seems like you all have problems with 60's. Reaction times having nothing to do with track times. Get those 60's down to 2.1-2.2 and your cars will see good times. Also, dont be afraid to powershift (shift with light/medium gas, dont take foot off gas pedal) and mph will climb nicely.
My 2.3 60's is probably the best Im going to get. You can really launch with an automatic tranny. haha

any sign of abuse on the clutch and no warranty

we already denied a warranty on a kid with an xA. the flywheel was blue and the clutch was toast... he expected a warranty but all he got was a $1500 bill
so keep it up but you better hope that you don't leave any evidence of abuse

the launch on my car is horrible, the thing is once i let off the clutch i can't floor it like most people do. reason why....nitrous. gotta wait till 3k before i can go WOT. And yes, it has a ____load of midrange. thats why freeway rules!!.

i wonder if i would be able to get them down. i need to go to the track again. it was my first time. im also running with stock intake, header, exhaust and just a shot of nitrous. if i got the other bolt ons in, im sure i could easily lower the time at least 2 tenths.

That what I have been trying to tell the people in the tC power hungary forum!
Everyone thinks that the tC is some kind of miracle performance car sent from another planet, that was put on earth to smoke all of the competition. Oh ya, and that the 2AZ camry engine is the newest, most advanced, highest performance engine that Toyota has ever built.

When I and a friend went over and talked to them one day at PIR, one of them said that they are part of the Mini challenge, there were only 5 or so of them, and they were all from North Scottsdale Mini. Who knows, they may have just been running times or something to prepare for an event elsewhere???

If people want fast cars they should buy nothing less than a v8. But you are missing the point kamikazi. Stock civics, crxs, integras, neons, focus's, eclips's, sentra spec Vs are all slow cars. The fun comes from buying an other wise slow econo car and tuning it to out perform one of those v8+ vehicles. Wich you can and has been done. That is where the love for 4 cyl tuning comes from, and the 2azfe takes well to modifications wich is why people are ranting over the performance aspect of the tC. Just my .02

TeamMightyMiniz
05-10-2005, 09:40 PM
Wrong... A V8 doesn't make for a fast car all the time... but it's a good start for 1/4 mile nonsense

Mods: WR intake, alphawerks header, 2.5 inch exhaust.

you cant read that well but my reaction time was .183

I ran against an SRT-4, i took him off the line and stayed ahead till half track then he started catching up.

All in all not a bad time, for first time running the car, im hoping with some weight reduction i can break 15.5 but well see.

I am running 15.62 @ 86 mph, consistaly and have a best of 15.61 @ 87 mph
I am bone stock. on a long straight away I have gotten up to 134mph and had a lil left, so Scion messed up the est top speed. I have ran in NC and TX and get the same times unless it's over 85 degrees out then I run 15.8's.

I will say it for you guys. My launches suck! I could not keep the tires from spinning. This run was with letting the clutch out slower than my other two runs. No I don't lower the tire pressure or take the spare tire out. It is my opinion that you should run a car in the exact condition that you drive on the street. So it has nearly a full tank of gas, full tire pressure, a 12" sub and two amps in the back. There is no doubt I can break into the 15s with just a little better launch.

No, their tC did not run 16s or 15s, THEY ran those times driving their tC. Just because your car can run 15s doesnt mean you can necessarilly do it. That is where driver skill comes into play.

1/8 Mile Drag Strip best time 10.3 seconds at 72 mph
Reaction time false start is below 0.5 seconds

The Scion tC does very well on the 1/8 strip. I was able to beat numerous V6 cars. Below are a few of my time slips. I won 7 times and lost twice (one time was do to missing 3rd gear)

My only mods at that time were K & N Typhoon CAI, TRD Exhaust, TRD Suspension, Hotchkis sways.

My friend at work kept saying his manual V6 Tyburon would "kill" my TC. I raced him three times, and I smoked him everytime. This was the closes he ever got to me.
http://www.geocities.com/ebayjonathan/TCvsTyburonV6.gif

This dude talked so much smack and numerous guys were betting cash right in front of me that the Integra would win... heh. He had greddy pipes and AEM intake.
http://www.geocities.com/ebayjonathan/TCvsIntegra.gif

My best time of the night was 10.3 seconds, even though I lost to a highly modded CRX with JDM engine, MSD ignition system, RAM+CAI intake and was so light that didn't even have a hood or passenger seats

this race was against my friends 98 eclipse GTS, he was all stock with manual! vs my tC with dc header, secret weapon-r intake, weapon-r damper kit, and a resistor chip. obviously he took the win (left side) and me loser (right side)

compare the R/T and 60ft. timing with both cars! this damper kit really works!!!

So I decided to take my car out to the track last night for the first time. I've never been to the track before so I was somewhat nervous. My car is 5 speed stock performance. The weather was ~86 degrees on the track.

First race a focus hatchback asked what I had done to my car and I told him I was stock so he said lets race. I didnt ask what he had until after the race. It was then I found out he had headers, intake, and exhaust. Granted it was a ZX3, but it was my first time ever at the track.

http://photos22.flickr.com/29699950_fac76e6b0b.jpg

Second race he wanted to go again and all that was really around me at the time were a buncha turbo integra's, so I said what the hell.

http://photos21.flickr.com/29699951_30eaf9b933.jpg

Not too bad of a night for my first time at the track. There was only 1 other tC there and he ran a 16.9. He was 5 speed as well.

oh, and mikochu, did you run you xA with the shortshifter and your uber grounding kit?

When I first thought about it, I thought I had at least the short shifter installed. But after doing some research (looking at dates of when the short shifter and ground wire tutorials were posted), I realized I had neither short shifter or ground wires installed. So my answer is "no." :D

He was 5 speed as well.

wtf you got a 2.2 60 ft?

i guess thats the reason why i cant break into the 15's..my 60's suck

senseiturtle

Rhyian's a good driver.

A stock tC with a sub 2.3 60' should run high 15's or better.

If you're not ticking off 2.4 or better 60's, you MUST practice. You're not driving well enough for representative times.

Have a few mods on my xa, i have platinum spark plugs, injen short ram intake, dc strut bar, short shifter (its a 5speed), grounding wires, and ill have a perrin lightened pulley in a few days, and 17x7 rims with falken alzenis tires....imma take it to the track the second i have the chance, what do you think ill run??
As for the nuetral drops....youll get maybe a few runs out of it, but auto trannies are not made to support the "slap" they recive once its dropped into gear. This WILL cause massive damage to your tranny...DONT DO IT

It depends on if you are a good driver mainly. Just go to the track and find out..

My best time i have was 16.4 @ 83mph. I removed the spare tire and backseats that night. Not too bad counting i've been dyno'd at 104whp so...

Good luck!

Havent been to the track that much as really I havent done anything engine wise to my car yet. I figured 15.7 would be the best i could get out of my car stock with 18's.

http://www.ryhian.com/3-24-06%20track%20copy.jpg

the 60 wasnt as good as I'd like. I usually get low 2.2's. So it tells me I could probably squeeze a 15.5 out of the car with a great 60.

If only I was running 17's again ahh. could probably shave another .10's off of my time.

Yeah, there was definately timing problems with that run.. That wasn't even with slicks or drag radials.. it was on street tires. Also, he only had I/H/DP.. Most of other times seemed correct, just that one freak run.

On Friday, I went for my first run ever on a track. Many people that I were with were having issues with the track, and running about .4-.6 slower than their typical times elsewhere. Unfortunately I only was able to run once, but it definately pushed me to get out there more. The car is stock, except for a short shifter. Here's my "slip" (I'll add a scan later)

R/T: .457
60': 2.342

1/8: 10.376
MPH: 68.11

I ran against a Saturn Ion who ran 16.337 @ 92.41mph. It was obviously modifed (trap speed gives that away), but I could not tell if it was supercharged or not.

Now I'm anxious to get out there and try again :)

I finally hit the track last night. Had some problems getting a good launch. The slip below was my best E/T of the night. It was VERY hot and humid all night so the times weren't the best. I think I could trim another few tenths off with more practice on the launches. Reaction time needs work too.

By the way, this is with a stock RS1 with nothing done to it (other than painted calipers and mudguards :P )

I'm trying... this was only my 2nd time out to the track... ever. The first time ( a month ago) I got one run in.

I was messing around with launching today, hence the 60' times being pretty random.

And given the heat and humidity in Tampa, I'm not so sure a 15.6 will be easy to come by. I'll probably be trying again Thursday though :)

His trap speed looks normal to me.. I would of had a very similar time if I could of launched better..

I hit a 9.88 with a 2.3x 60', that's on stock tires with no stiffy.. If I hit a 2.1x 60' now (with the stiffy and new tires) I would be hitting 9.6's also.

I also only had header & intake at the time, I now have the s-pipe as well.

I will post the time slip when I get to a scanner. That same night I had my best 3 runs. It was 83 degrees out when I ran a 15.3, then a 15.2. which was my best out of 5 consecutive runs. My slowest for the night was 15.4 and that was because of missing gears. Then the track was packed so I had a nice 1 hour cool down as well as the air temp started to dip until my next run. which was a 15.1. Another hour passed the air temp was now 72 degrees and on my final run I ran the 15.0. If I had stayed for one more run the air temp would've been in the 60's and the way my car was responding I shouldve been 14.9's.

The reason my MPH is not that high is because I am racing on 18' wheels and for traction I am dropping tire pressure 22-20 lbs. The tC does not have enough top end in 4th grear to pull higher MPH on 18's. Although they are lighter than the stock 17's the stock wheels and tires suck major ___.

Everything was perfect on the 15.0 launch. I was able to heat up both tires instead of the typical left side one legger on previous attempts. I am usually at a .1 reaction time however i compensated and took my time and feathered the clutch off the line at 2500 rpm. It hooked right away and I prayed like hell that I wouldnt miss shift because my short throw shifter is really sloppy. I am replacing that ASAP.

I am going to the track to try and pull 14.9 tonight if not I have to do the full exhaust and some weight reduction like carbon fiber hood and such. There is another scion that ran 14.9 with same set up as me but he had the s-pipe and pipe work done.

If ATCO is your local come on out and race or spectate, I am trying to get a group thing going.

I am going to the track to try and pull 14.9 tonight if not I have to do the full exhaust and some weight reduction like carbon fiber hood and such. There is another scion that ran 14.9 with same set up as me but he had the s-pipe and pipe work done.

Do the full exhaust, but if you're interested in performance then don't waste your money on a carbon fiber hood. It saves you 11lbs, which is barely anything. You won't even notice a difference in the quarter mile.

I thought it was obvious... :lalala:

If they have a time of 9's/10's then it's in the 1/8th mile. (there aren't any 9/10 sec 1/4th mile tC's that are privately owned on these boards). There is one 11 sec. (shop owned) and there is a 9sec (Pro owned). But for this thread, you won't see anything faster than a 12.7 so far.

If they say they ran anything above a 12 then it's in the 1/4th (if they say 12's and it's 1/8th equals....YOUR THE SLOWEST DRIVER I'VE SEEN).

I did catch him on one of his worse runs of the night, but none the less I was faster than him all night. I think his ET's were prob due to bad choice of parts/driver skill. Him and a friend were sporting APC and STREET GLOW stickers all over their cars. And believe me I know with the right driver behind the wheel that is a 14 sec 1/4mile car. 06SuperWhite_SoCal_tC

Yes 3 different power levels. 160hp = RS, 227hp = WRX, 300hp = STi. The WRX is a mid 14 second car with a decent driver in the seat...thays why I said, I know with the right driver behind the wheels it's a 14 sec car (beats the tC by a bit). With the body style the guy had that I raced there wasnt a STi out yet over here...so that narrows it down to a WRX, or RS, and I clearly heard a Turbo/BOV so that narrowed it down right there to only one possibilty WRX. I think the guy just didnt know how to drive is what his problem was... :-/ Ive driven all 3 models of Imprezza and the WRX pulls quite nicely compared to the tC.

I deffinetly agree with that question. Here is a time slip of a tC I raced against running a 15.2. Time slip 4 left lane labled George. He has more performance mods and had a .3 second better 60foot. After that its all about the power of the car (and shifts). Making up .3 seconds after the first 60 feet isnt easy. We had similar 60 foots and it took a supercharger for me to make up .3 tenths from him. It was a bad run for me for sure.

a 2.5x or a 2.6x 60' time means you're either bogging REALLLY bad off the line or you're spinning all the way through 1st gear (and some of 2nd).. I have ran down the track about 80 times in my tC and anything over a 2.3x 60' time will not get you a good ET. I could see a 2.4x, maybe, but a 2.6x 60' is just a terrible launch and with your mods it will not get you a 15.2.

I just ran a 16.4 on a full tank of gas. Last time I ran a 16.4 only mod was intake on almost empty. I will post my timeslip later after I scan it. Also the computers were off today. They weren't working correctly giving people slower times than normal.

Went racing last Friday, I didn't do to bad before the rain came and shut down the track. I ran the 16.2's only mods are the Injen Intake and Megan Drift Spec Catback Exhaust V2. I haven't installed the NST pullies yet, thats on the "to do" list. I have to say 16.2 is really good with only intake and exhaust, cause when I was stock I was running 16.90 - 17.10. Oh well here are my slips.

Six runs. Best 1/4: 16.19, Best R/T .243

EDIT:Stock, aside from Megan short throw.

I keep having issues with the car continuing to rev after I've left off the gas.. Like I'll start shifting right at 6k but the engine revs up without my input and by the time I get it back in gear and attempt to accelerate the engine is cutting out. And beyond that I have wheel hop and excuses for days!

1slowtc
11-14-2007, 12:11 PM
6 lbs trans has been upgraded putting a intercooler on it this winter to jump the boost to 14 or 15. engine has also been redone to i popped the ringlands off 3 of the 4 pistons. the car has alot left to go i think jumping the boost i should be in the 12's no problem i personally think if i had a shift light and stayed off the dam rev limiter i would have got a better time but you no what they say better luck next time
