Default Driving to Orlando from NJ - Question (Tire-related)

I got new tires and rims on my box in November. I am driving to Orlando from NJ, which is a little over 1,000 miles aka 16+ hours. Now with my new tires, I can only replace them at Pep Boys because I have a road hazard warranty there. Sooo if I take the new tires to FL and something happens to them (worst case scenerio) I have to find a Pep Boys in the area and pray that they have my exact tire and then pay 10% of the cost (so maybe like $10-$20, depending on how much tread I used). *OR* I was thinking of putting my old tires back on (stock) so if anything happens, I can go anywhere to replace it, but pay full price for a tire.

What would you guys do in my position - drive 1,000 miles with stock tires or with new rims and tires?

I would just use the tires that are on there - odds are you won't run over a nail on the interstate/highway/whatever.

Carry a spare and take along 800-PEP-BOYS. Got AAA?
I think you're putting too much negative thought into this.

Considering your new ones are 17's I say use the stockers for the trip.
1. you will get better mpgs. about 2-3 better mpg and run 35 psi tire pressures.
2. You know your new ones will stay nice and safe while away.
I always run my stockers while on long trips. Plus they will give you better pothole protection too! Good luck and have a fun and safe trip!!!

I been driving over 30 yrs and never needed to get the road warranty. Its just another way for the store to make money. The odds are in your favor its like AC. LOL.

I drive to Orlando every year for Vacation. I don't use the box. Since it's a long drive, I use my 2003 GMC Safari Van, more comfort inside for the long hall and to sleep while the wife takes her turn at the wheel. But once I get to FL, I always wish I had the xB down there to cruise/showoff. LOL

Good luck on your choice and have a safe trip
