Default My iPod

Okay, I have looked at all the other topics, and have not found any info on this....

I have an iPod, and want to hook it up to my stock Scion radio. I have something that runs through the FM radio, but the stock Scion radio sucks, nothing but static. I read that Scion was coming out with a new deck that plugs into the iPod, but after 6 hours at Bob Bridge Toyota in Renton, they finally figures out it would not work on my 2005 Scion xB. Car is 2 years old, and it is already a dinosaur.

Any advice on hooking up the iPod to the Scion radio?

Yeah, I was really looking forward to getting the CD/ iPod compatible player put in to my deck, but after several hours at Bob Bridge, they figured out that this deck was not compatible witha 2005 xB.

So I did the next best thing, so I think, in buying an FM iPod converter. Which really stinks, because the Scion Pioneer deck is awful.

there was an option for the '04-'05 xB's back when we bought them. It is a special 6 disc head unit, you would have to request that specifically. The '06-'06.5's have a totally different system

nope the '04-'05's have it only if they have the 6 disc head unit, and if you do, then it is over above the glove box, in that little black panel.

I got an Ipod Nano a couple of weeks ago and plugged it into the standard aux port on the console. It sounds great! You have to use the Ipod to select songs, but I just select a playlist and away we go. I all you need for that is a standard aux cord, which is like $5. I see no need for the expensive optional Ipod port.

2006 xA. Sorry, I just read Big_Bird's response after I posted. I didn't know the 04-05s don't have that aux port.

I hope you figure something out for your Ipod. Good luck!

wow I am not even sure that the 04-05's even were compatible at all with the I-pods, I don't ever remeber that even being an issue back then, you just got the 6 disk and that handled all mp3's that you could put onto a disk. So if you burn all of you songs onto disks in mp3 format then it would play all of those.

But the I-pod was only just becoming popular back then. so Good luck. I will ask my audio guys tomorrow and see what they have to say. They might be able to shine some light on things for you.

This is a crappy picture of a kenwood deck I got at Best Buy for $100

This is the $49 iPod interface. all this with a remote! I plug in the iPod and the rest happens via wireless remore. The deck also hast two separate RCA outs for multiple amps... You could continue chasing for parts from Toyota or go with soething like this?

The clip for the wire harness that connects the car to the stereo change between the 04/05 and 06 model years. The dealer should have know this and if they didn't it only takes 5-10 minutes to pull apart the dash and figure this out it should not have taken them 6 hours.

You mentioned you have a device that will convert your ipod signal to a radio signal. If this is the case you may need to move it close to the back window so the antenna can pick up the signal. The antenna in the back window of the xB in my opinion is horrible.

Not sure if what you got is like this but some of the transmitters require you to splice into the antenna wire.

Good luck hopefully you get some ipod tones soon.
