Default Upgrade trunk light : automatic on/off with LED

PLEASE DISREGARD AUTO ON/OFF WIRING PART!!!
OK. now I realized it is already designed as turning on and off automatically. I did such a useless work in the below. So just disregard wire and switch parts in this thread, and just enjoy with LED parts....
-----------------------------------------------------------
(ORIGINAL THREAD)

Hey guys!

Have you ever experienced some difficulities for finding light switch in trunk at night? I just upgraded my trunk light to get turned on/off automatically when the trunk get opened/closed. I also changed the bulb into eight LEDs (5630 size, 3 chip SMD type) and this LED contains three chips (normally there's only one chip on SMD type LED), so it is way brighter than normal one chip LED.
Anyway I'll show you what I did.

1. Take off trunk light and cut off all the unnecessary parts as below pictures.

Be careful with + / -

2. Solder LEDs onto PCB (specially designed for SMD/superflux LEDs application) and also solder lead wires onto PCB
* Front

*Back

3. Hook up lead wires from PCB and trunk light

4. This is the switch that operates backward compared to normal switch. It's off when switch pushed and it's on when switch released.

5. Make a hole that fits in the switch onto plastic molding at trunk and install switch and then connect lead wires.

6. poke lead wires from switch into trunk trim, and then get lead wires out of the hole of trunk light. Then cut one of the wires(+ or -) of original haness (I actually cut orange color wire) and then connect two lead wires to each wires' ends that you just cut. Perfectly insulate them and put them back into trunk trim, and also put trunk light back on and that's about it.

7. Now everything's done.
(Daytime shot)

(at night)

How's that guys.. I love it. Now I don't have to find the switch at night. ^^

If you switch it on, it turns on and off automatically and if you turn it off, it never turns on.

nice work with the LEDs, but as the others have said, the trunk acts just like a dome light.

Werd, it's like the ceiling lights, but it only has a "off" and "door" position, so to speak

hahah. It's ok dude, at first I thought that too, but that's because mine initially came with the switch in the OFF position. If you just turn it on, it auto turns on/off when opening/closing the hatch.

That trim SHOULD cost no more than $20 (knowing dealerships, i'm sure you'll be bent over) so you can just replace it if it bugs you.

Well i'm just estimating. It would be mad to cost any more though for what it is.

perhaps you should edit some parts of the thread or so as not to confuse others into making the same mistake.

Default Trunk Light LED

Does any know a LED light to use for the trunk? I've bought map lights from superbrightleds.com. Just need to know the model number for the trunk light. Thanks!
