View Full Version : CLEAN YA CAR!!!
josh4201 04-15-2007, 01:54 PM Just Wanted to know what you guys use to wash and wax your car. Ilike to use Mcguires products, I've never had any problems with them i just like to see what other products work really well. My car is flint mica and i want to use the best stuff to keep the paint lookin as good as possible.[/b]
blazeplacid 04-15-2007, 02:06 PM also use meguairs. alot of people like mothers but to me it isnt the same.
I use the meguairs interior detail and it works amazing. Little red bottle, smells good and works great!
Turtle Wax soap/wax combo. And about twice a month I wax it with Turtle Wax Ice.

HaYnSktC 04-15-2007, 05:21 PM im a meguiars user as well hasnt let me down yet =)
Yanki01 04-15-2007, 05:29 PM Meguiars! Ive had my tC for close to 2yrs and have yet waxed it. Ive only clayed it once and still shines like day 1. One thing i tell you is to get the Super Suede Drying Towel from Meguiars. I use to use the Absorber but after getting swirls and making my heart drop i went for something else. This towel has worked great with no scratching or anything. Just keep it clean.
ilovemytC 04-15-2007, 05:36 PM I wash with Meguiars "pink" car soap, micro fiber towels -1 different towel for each side. Then dry with an Absorber, I wash it in the washing machine after each use. Wax with Zymol cleaner wax (blue bottle), micro fiber applicator, and buff with micro fiber towels. Then throw everything in the washing machine to clean.
sciontC 04-15-2007, 05:43 PM The soap I use is armorall car wash, somethin like that. I use the cheap turtle wax that is like 2 dollars at walmart. I use black magic foam for my tires. I dry with a shammy. i will most likly switch to all meguirer products when these run out. They work good for the short run but dont seem to hold up long.
Zebman 04-15-2007, 06:15 PM I'm rockin' the Dawn dish soap.

Putting a quality wax on will provide some UV protection, which should help protect paint fade and the always-inevitable clear coat failure years down the road... also helps protect against the elements, like rain (water spots or acid etching), and tree sap and bird poo. Gives you a little time to wash it off before it etches into the paint
Just thought I'd let ya know :P
tCheesy 04-15-2007, 06:26 PM I mix acetone and dirt clods in a bucket, then wash with a steel wool pad.
"rinse" with a 30lb. sledge.
dry with 1 grit sandpaper.
:P
I take mine to a car wash that does a really good job.
tC4italy 04-15-2007, 06:30 PM I'm rockin' the Dawn dish soap.

Disodium 04-15-2007, 06:50 PM Hand wash & wax with NXT every other week, on the off weeks i just hit the self serve car wash (after checking the brush for nasties of course)
tC4italy 04-15-2007, 06:51 PM I can't believe how often you guys wax the cars...........not good
ilovemytC 04-15-2007, 06:55 PM ^ I agree. I only wax if there are lots of swirlies or when I get my oil changed, but I do wash the car every week in the summer, and every other week during Winter-Spring/Fall.
tC4italy 04-15-2007, 06:59 PM car should be waxed 2 max 4 times a year
more than that and yr just stripping the paint instead of protecting it
paint was made to endure nature it's like you give a kid so many antibiotics and later one when he gets older his immune system will get used to them and nothing will work against bad "weather"
MJVsTC 04-15-2007, 07:34 PM I used Adam's.
hellrazor1219 04-15-2007, 07:38 PM anyone use Zymol's wax?? I used to use it on my Civic. I want to wax my car finally, after a year and a half of owning it. Should I use Zymol, or switch to Meguiar or something? Thanks.
ilovemytC 04-15-2007, 08:22 PM I use Zymol cleaner wax (blue bottle). It's got all natural ingredients.
sciontastic 04-15-2007, 08:41 PM Umm. the only thing I hate about using carnuba car wax is that it attracts bees.
Ever have a swarm of bees create a nest or honeycomb inside your sideview mirror housing behind the mirror.
bBlover 04-15-2007, 09:56 PM ^^ I'm sorry but that's funny!!
paul34 04-15-2007, 09:59 PM  what's going on in this thread LOL
Wax is wax, it goes on top of your paint. It doesn't remove swirls like polish does.
And waxing doesn't remove paint. You can wax all you want :D
If you polish a lot, yes, you can remove too much paint. But I'm talking a lot

Paint isn't a living creature :)
tC4italy 04-15-2007, 11:53 PM errr ok then wax away  I'll do what car experts recommend :silly:
sciontcnj 04-15-2007, 11:57 PM i use Turtle Wax Ice...wash, wax and detailer...nothing but amazing on darker colored cars...my friend is a professional detailer and he says this is the only thing he uses for dark grey/black cars
