Default Tap straight into battery for LED switch?

I recently installed cold cathodes and an Oznium lit LED switch into my xB. instead of using the fuse box to get a "constant 12v" power, i tapped straight into the battery (+ terminal)and put a 10amp fuse in that line.

my question is - is this okay? i'm not draining the battery or anything am i? or should i rewire this through the fuse box?

this is a diagram of what i did. my cathodes work fine and my car has started fine for the last 2 weeks after the install - so i dont think it's draining the battery or anything like that.

i just wanted confirmation to make myself feel better. does this look okay? any glaring mistakes i've made?

thank you guys in advance!

There should be no problem with that, I would find out how much the lights draw (amps) and get a fuse closer to that range of the light. 10 amps seems a lot for cold cathodes.

Thank you for the reply john! I read somewhere that the amp useage per cathode set is 3 amps. i only have the 1 set put in right now but will be adding 2 more sets for a total of 3. so it'll be drawing 9 amps with a 10 amp fuse in!

i appreciate your input! thank you for your reply,

Oops - I was wrong before. 1 set of Oznium cathodes only draws .7 amps of 12v power. therefore, I will replace the 10 amp fuse that i have with a 3-5 amp one.

That sounds a whole lot better, always remember keep the fuse rating close to the accessory rating.
