I shipped my car from New Jersey to Izmir Turkey about 9 months back. I dont drive the car that much, I changed the oil at 14,400 and now i have 14,800. Does the oil still need to be changed or not really? I use Mobil 1 synthetic.

Im curious if im suppose to do any other maintenance chores that are based on TIME rather than MILES.

I'm shipping it back to NJ in about two months but i was planning on taking some road trips before i leave here which will probably up 400 more miles on the car..

I'd change it before those 400mi worth of road trips.

Probably isn't anything wrong, but there's no harm in changing it either.

nobody ever harmed their engine from chaning their oil! if you're worried about it i would change it out...

I am also a very low mile driver. I had my car since late '04 and recently pass the 15k mark. The manual says to change the oil every 5k miles or 6 months. So I get my oil change every 6 months. I rather pay for oil changes than repairs.

I have used synthetic in my cars and bikes for decades, and I would not change that oil until 2500 miles or a year was on it.

Heck, that oil is still like new. Don't worry about changing it till after you get back. It's only been 8 months. They only give time intervals to cover people that only do short trips. Not people that let them sit.
