View Full Version : I just saw two 2008 xB's going down the road
04-19-2007, 11:24 PM
My daughter and I were returning from her photo shoot in south L.A. and two 2008 xB's pulled in front of us. There was a burgundy and a silver one.
I was able to pull up beside both of them at a red light and we sat there looking at them for a few minutes.
They look nice, but my initial thought is that while they look ok, I'm not going to run out and trade my classic gen 1 for it.
04-19-2007, 11:25 PM
Did they have any clue as to what you were driving, or what they were driving?
04-19-2007, 11:36 PM
Why was this moved to 2nd-Gen Rumors? This ISN'T a rumor and I was driving my 1st GEN xB!!
04-19-2007, 11:40 PM
new body style calls for a new generation of xB??? :lalala:
It was moved because you spotted 2008s on the road. That hasn't happened in a while, and the car you were driving had nothing to do with the fact that vehicles which have not been released were spotted by you on public roads.
04-19-2007, 11:50 PM
So this makes what my daughter and I saw a rumor? I don't think so. We know what we saw and they were 2008 xB's on public roads in L.A.
No one said that or called you a liar. This is the forum for 2008+ xB discussion. It is due for a name change since their arrival date is nearing.

C'mon let's hug it out, hug it out. :silly:
Anyway, that's weird....did you get a look at the drivers?
Everyday peeps or something ALIEN like form the secret facilities of TOYOTA??? Errr.. I mean SCION?
04-20-2007, 12:17 AM
It not a matter of hugging, etc. I just hate it when people automatically make it seem like we don't know what the heck we are talking about. That's EXACTLY how I felt in this case. . . . the fact that it is rare to see these at this point is the reason I posted it.
Regarding the people in each car, there were three in each. Two up front and one in the back. The burgundy one was in front followed closely by the silver one. Both tags had the exact same number, I believe it was 795 or 595 on each, but the tags were different colors.
Fortunately for us, we were on a road where they decided to make a left turn and there were two left-turn lanes and I was able to jump in the other one since I was initially behind them. This allowed us to pull right up beside the both of them.
04-20-2007, 12:19 AM
Pretty cool! You should have followed them to their secret lair.....was probably the pub down the road!
Thanks for sharing that is rather interesting!
04-20-2007, 12:47 AM
I actually have PROOF of my "rumor," but I don't know how to upload pics. I was able to snap three quick photos of the burgundy one with my cell phone.
If anyone is willing to upload them for me, I'll be more than happy to e-mail them to you for everyone to view.
Listen. I do not doubt you at all. Bottom line is this is the forum for 2008 xB discussion, which is what you saw. I will be happy to upload the pics for you. I am pming you now.

those are distributor plates also known as manufacturer.
Here are the three pics from Stranger:
04-20-2007, 01:30 AM
I like it Thanks so much for photos.
04-20-2007, 01:58 AM
Sweet! In that second pic, the driver is scuzzing you out! lol. Nice shots, Stranger!
04-20-2007, 03:17 AM
I tend to agree about the rumor definition. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumor
I started a discussion about that after the Chicago auto show
However, I now see why this whole forum won't be deleted until the release date ish.
I think the term rumor is expanded here so the new b peeps can drool with anticipation.
Great pics!!! Next ones we see should be 10 on a a truck from LA or Seattle.
04-20-2007, 03:24 AM
If you look closely in the first picture you can see the silver xB behind the burgundy one in the small circle mirror, or maybe I can make it out since I know what it is.
Yeah, you're right. They weren't very happy that I was taking the photos, but they didn't make any obscene jestures though.
I know exactly where they turned off at and may try to snoop around there a little this weekend when I'm back down that way.
The press preview vehicles are going out this weekend, and so a lot of the new xB and xDs are at Toyota HQ waiting to be delivered, so maybe a lucky employee got to take one out for a spin.
04-20-2007, 04:17 AM
wow! must have been some big bosses for scion or some dealers in that car..cool pics!
04-20-2007, 11:08 AM
Thanx for the Pics Man!! Appreciate that!
04-20-2007, 04:43 PM
we tend to get things out here sooner then most places.
im not surpised you saw them, and im not surprised the out of state peeps didnt believe you.
thanks for snappin the pics. they look aight, it'll take some time to get used to em.
04-20-2007, 04:46 PM
agreed. i'm not sure that i like that look now, but maybe after seeing them in person i might get used to it.
04-20-2007, 06:10 PM
i love it.
04-20-2007, 06:26 PM
I love the new one too, especially after seeing the black one in the validation testing video.
For the first generation, I disliked it when it came out, gradually warmed up to it, and now, after seeing them for almost 4 years, think I could live with one.
When I first saw the 2nd gen xB 2 months ago, kinda I liked it, but now think it is the hottest thing under 20k.
04-20-2007, 07:43 PM
I like how the guy sits up and tries to look bigger as the pics progress. :eyebrow:

Stranger, thanks for the pics. For the record, I did believe him and being from the motor city I can believe him. There is no telling what and when you will see it. I used to see all kinds of cars floating around Dearborn, Ypsi, and even Ann Arbor. I am not there now, but my brother would snap a pic and email it to me and in further investigation we find out what it is even b4 the general public gets to see the finish product. I am surprised this one is not riding around in Michigan, I ask my brother everytime we talk.
Stranger, thanks again, and that color looks good. Everytime I look at one, I am wanting it more and more. I may just snag the first one my dealer gets in the first week of May. That is what i did for the first gen. I was there today and they stated that there are alot of calls for the B2 and people are ready to trade. They have to stop the folks cause they don't have the car to give them and plus their appraisal may not be the same at time of delivery. They the dealer fears what happened the first time with our current box, will happen the second time around. More demands than there are supply.
04-20-2007, 11:51 PM
why can't i see the pics?
04-21-2007, 02:46 PM
pics work fine for me! thanks for posting!
blackberry crush, FTW!
04-22-2007, 11:10 PM
LOL if the guys in the B2 were upset about having you photograph them, they should have just hit the gas  If the HP readings are at all accurate, he would have left you (and any of us 1st gen-ers) in the dust!
AWESOME pics, man, thanks for posting :) Now we know they do...drive! On roads, even! :D (one more rumor dispelled, lol...i guess this will still be the 'rumors' board until every one of us has a 2nd gen) :silly:

Yes, I also saw 08XB (dark red), going home yesterday on 405 North at near Getty Center. The driver even slow down for me to take the photos. I had a good look at it and it looks nice.
If someone can tell me how to install pictures, I can post them.
04-25-2007, 03:58 PM
Find out how to post pics here
04-25-2007, 04:08 PM
from the side, kinda looks like a HHR and a Magnum...
04-25-2007, 04:13 PM
i like that. a 1st gen xb, pulling up to the mysterious 2nd gen. :D
04-25-2007, 07:23 PM
Here are the picture, taken from my Previa on 405 North, yesterday.
04-25-2007, 07:37 PM
...so keeping my box. And is that the reverse light in the bumper?
04-25-2007, 07:56 PM
Yes, it looks like one backup light on the left hand side.
Seeing the new xB2 in a stop and go traffic, it looked nice and sharp.
This new xB2 is not as radical as my PW xB1 and if I was about get Camry or Accord, I would get xB2 instead, it is a good deal. I suspect more older people (like me) will consider buying xB2 and Scion will have no problem selling all they build.
2006 PW xB1
2006 Lexus ES330 (for wife)
04-25-2007, 08:03 PM
...so cant wait for mine to be delivered
04-25-2007, 08:06 PM
weird, i can't post them either. . . .
04-25-2007, 08:59 PM
Ooh! That means they're coming very soon. :P 8)
04-25-2007, 09:20 PM
Is that a cherokee in front of it or an escape? It appears a bit bigger than I thought...
Either way I like it more and more. This or a Mazda 3 are pretty much my two choices right now.
Here I come to post the pics!
04-25-2007, 11:59 PM
Reminds me of the first time i saw a tC. The guy saw me taking pics, his son in the car with him didn't believe him. He pulled over to let me get a look and sit inside, etc. that was before they were out.
Funny that it is the same color...
04-26-2007, 12:06 AM
so, the revolution begins
Viva le gen 1!
04-26-2007, 12:16 AM
I'd buy evolution--but not revolution.......
04-26-2007, 12:20 AM
So, the evolution begins! :P
04-26-2007, 04:29 AM
Funny that it is the same color...
OK I'm a little confused. Are you saying the Black Cherry Pearl of the tC is the same color as the Blackberry Crush Metallic? At least that is what color I assumed the car in the posted pictures to be. But then, I am red-green color blind. :?
The reason I ask is I kind of like the color of the one in the pictures here. Still a little dark for my taste, but it does look good in the sun.
04-26-2007, 05:23 PM
Blackberry Crush and Black Cherry Pearl are very similar but not the same thing. Why is the xB emblem so far down on the hatch? I'm gonna put the 3rd gen bB emblem on mine. :silly: that is pretty much grounds for flaming! But I think itd look 8)
