My daughter and I were returning from her photo shoot in south L.A. and two 2008 xB's pulled in front of us. There was a burgundy and a silver one.

I was able to pull up beside both of them at a red light and we sat there looking at them for a few minutes.

They look nice, but my initial thought is that while they look ok, I'm not going to run out and trade my classic gen 1 for it.

It was moved because you spotted 2008s on the road. That hasn't happened in a while, and the car you were driving had nothing to do with the fact that vehicles which have not been released were spotted by you on public roads.

So this makes what my daughter and I saw a rumor? I don't think so. We know what we saw and they were 2008 xB's on public roads in L.A.

It not a matter of hugging, etc. I just hate it when people automatically make it seem like we don't know what the heck we are talking about. That's EXACTLY how I felt in this case. . . . the fact that it is rare to see these at this point is the reason I posted it.

Regarding the people in each car, there were three in each. Two up front and one in the back. The burgundy one was in front followed closely by the silver one. Both tags had the exact same number, I believe it was 795 or 595 on each, but the tags were different colors.

Fortunately for us, we were on a road where they decided to make a left turn and there were two left-turn lanes and I was able to jump in the other one since I was initially behind them. This allowed us to pull right up beside the both of them.

Pretty cool! You should have followed them to their secret lair.....was probably the pub down the road!

Yeah, you're right. They weren't very happy that I was taking the photos, but they didn't make any obscene jestures though.

I know exactly where they turned off at and may try to snoop around there a little this weekend when I'm back down that way.

The press preview vehicles are going out this weekend, and so a lot of the new xB and xDs are at Toyota HQ waiting to be delivered, so maybe a lucky employee got to take one out for a spin.

I love the new one too, especially after seeing the black one in the validation testing video.

For the first generation, I disliked it when it came out, gradually warmed up to it, and now, after seeing them for almost 4 years, think I could live with one.

When I first saw the 2nd gen xB 2 months ago, kinda I liked it, but now think it is the hottest thing under 20k.

I like how the guy sits up and tries to look bigger as the pics progress. :eyebrow:

Stranger, thanks for the pics. For the record, I did believe him and being from the motor city I can believe him. There is no telling what and when you will see it. I used to see all kinds of cars floating around Dearborn, Ypsi, and even Ann Arbor. I am not there now, but my brother would snap a pic and email it to me and in further investigation we find out what it is even b4 the general public gets to see the finish product. I am surprised this one is not riding around in Michigan, I ask my brother everytime we talk.


Stranger, thanks again, and that color looks good. Everytime I look at one, I am wanting it more and more. I may just snag the first one my dealer gets in the first week of May. That is what i did for the first gen. I was there today and they stated that there are alot of calls for the B2 and people are ready to trade. They have to stop the folks cause they don't have the car to give them and plus their appraisal may not be the same at time of delivery. They the dealer fears what happened the first time with our current box, will happen the second time around. More demands than there are supply.

Yes, I also saw 08XB (dark red), going home yesterday on 405 North at near Getty Center. The driver even slow down for me to take the photos. I had a good look at it and it looks nice.

Yes, it looks like one backup light on the left hand side.

Seeing the new xB2 in a stop and go traffic, it looked nice and sharp.
This new xB2 is not as radical as my PW xB1 and if I was about get Camry or Accord, I would get xB2 instead, it is a good deal. I suspect more older people (like me) will consider buying xB2 and Scion will have no problem selling all they build.

Reminds me of the first time i saw a tC. The guy saw me taking pics, his son in the car with him didn't believe him. He pulled over to let me get a look and sit inside, etc. that was before they were out.

OK I'm a little confused. Are you saying the Black Cherry Pearl of the tC is the same color as the Blackberry Crush Metallic? At least that is what color I assumed the car in the posted pictures to be. But then, I am red-green color blind. :? :wink:

The reason I ask is I kind of like the color of the one in the pictures here. Still a little dark for my taste, but it does look good in the sun.

Blackberry Crush and Black Cherry Pearl are very similar but not the same thing. Why is the xB emblem so far down on the hatch? I'm gonna put the 3rd gen bB emblem on mine. :silly: that is pretty much grounds for flaming! But I think itd look 8)
