Default Clarion HU Wiring Problem for 2006 xB

Ok, here it goes...I just bought a Clarion DXZ775USB HU and I'm having some wiring confusion. I diconnected the stock HU just fine and put the DD adapter in and began the wiring with a wiring harness & HU harness. Now the speakers are really straight forward but there are a few wires that have me stumped. From the HU harness there are 2 yellow wires with inline fuses; one is a 15A fuse & the other is a 3A fuse. Now the HU directions say the 15A wire is a "memory back-up lead" & the 3A is a "bus power lead". They both say to connect directly to battery. Am I to assume that both those wires will be crimped or soldered into the 12V "radio constant (blue/yellow) wire"? Next...the HU harness has a red wire that says it's the "power lead". Does this one go to the 12V "radio switched (grey) wire"? And the last wiring question...there is a blue wire from the HU that is the "auto antenna lead" and from the xB there is a "radio antenna trigger (black/red) wire; do they need to be connected?

Any and all info on this would be greatly appreciated. And if anyone has this HU let me know what you think about it. Thanks, PEACE!! Christie

The xB has a built in antenna amplifier that needs to get power from the head unit's auto antenna lead. See https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...376934#1376934 for more info.

Here's the wiring for the '06.5 head unit, if yours is not a 6.5, use the drawing in the link above which covers xBs from 2003 through the first half of 2006.

Default Clarion HU Wiring Problem for 2006 xB

Thanks a bunch Tomas. I had a feeling that the antenna wire had to be used but wasn't 100% sure. Right now I'm just stumped on the rest of the wiring questions I have. My poor toaster's dash is all apart and I need to get it back together so I can go to work tomorrow morning. Thanks again!!! PEACE!! Christie

15A fused "backup" = blue/yellow "B+" lead (pin 4) constant power
Radio Power = gray "ACC" lead (pin 3) ignition switched power

(From the 2003-Early 2006 schematic linked above.)

(BTW, I believe the "bus power lead" is the lead that provides a turn-on signal to external amps and such, not a power input lead to your Clarion, but I do not know that... but if the info that came with the Clarion insists it connects to power, then I'd connect it to the same B/Y lead the 15 amp went to.)

Tomas is correct. Clarion is pretty good at sticking with the standard wire color scheme.
For those that are unfamiliar, MOST of the reputable manufacturers will use this same color scheme for their wiring. It is pretty universal when it comes to aftermarket HUs. This is the same scheme that Scosche and Metra use for their wiring harnesses, so the wires match up, color for color. Here they are:
Yellow=12V Constant (Battery)
Red=12V ACC or Switched (Ignition)
Black=Ground
Orange(or Orange/White)=Illumination
Blue(Blue/White)=Remote - For amplifiers, antenna boosters, etc.

The remaining wires are usually speaker leads, paired by color, with the black striped wire being the negative. These do have a tendency to vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, so consult the color scheme listed in the HU owner's manual.
Gray-Gray/Black
White-White/Black
Green-Green/Black
Purple-Purple/Black

This is simply a guide to help others decipher wiring schemes of aftermarket HUs and is by no means intended to be a "be all, end all" of wiring guides.
ALWAYS consult your HU's Owner's Manual for correct wiring colors!

With all that info, you should be up and running.

By the way, are you planning to get rid of the factory unit?
If so; is it a T1806?
