I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem. Every time it rains, my interior smells like wet dog. I've never had a pet in my car and I hate dogs so the smell is getting irritated. Does anyone else have a problem with smells in the humidity/rain?

Are you the 1st owner? If not maybe the previous owner had dogs or something in the car? If you're the 1st owner maybe check your armpits? Sorry, I'm not trying to be an a-hole I just couldn't resist :silly:

Well, I dunno...I just switched deodorants and it's still doing it.
Other than that, yes, I'm the first owner. Maybe my box was a dog in its previous life.

Check the plugs in the floor you may be getting water in the back.
Does the carpet feel wet at all?

Ok, seriously that is weird. I live in Seattle so I know a thing or two about rain and humidity and I have never had that problem. I don't know what to say other than maybe there's moisture leaking in somehow?

Replaced the windshield? If so, maybe it's not sealed somewhere. Other than that, I'd just start feeling around to see if the headliner or carpet feels damp. Change the pollen filter- could be some build up. If no pollen filter, could be crud in the ducts that smells when damp.

There might be mold in your vents.

Just to give everyone a rundown of the car...I bought it new from the dealer in September. No accidents, no new windshield, no mods.

Two things you can possibly rule out: (as in, two problems I've already had with mine)
1) A/C drain. PROBABLY not the case, but it's possible. I accidentally dislodged the drain valve, which is a black rubber hose that runs out of the condenser way up at the top/back of the passenger footwell. I only mention this because using the defogger (like in the rain) will also trip the air conditioner. If you don't have standing water in the passenger footwel, this is not the problem...but it's nice to rule some things out.
2) more of a suggestion than anything. there's an easy technique for checking for interior leaks (from window seals and whatnot), which sound like they could be a problem. the next time rain is forecast, get a pad of post-it notes and stick then under all the windows, doors, etc. If some of them disappear / get wet, it's an easy way to tell if anything's leaking before it evaporates. this is how i found the leaky back window in my blazer.
you can also go to a high-pressure touchless car wash and take a real close look :) if anything's leaking you'll sure know it then!
Also, a request for more information - are your windows fogged up (on the inside) when you first get into your car after night rains? if so, that would indicate water in the vehicle. how long does the smell last? does it first show up when you turn on the vents? does it linger after you've had the car running?
i might also pop the hood and check for leaves and crap. decomposing foliage under the hood of my tracer got worse after every rain, and made it smell terrible.
