Default My xB is bad luck...I give up

My best friend's sister backed into it Friday night. It's got a big black scuff, is all scratched up, and the license plate is bent. The plastic is kind of warped and got pushed out rather than in...I don't even know how that happened. I don't have any pics yet. It's not THAT bad but I'm sure it'll be pricey to repair and her parents are really cool so they're taking care of it.

This car is bad luck. I love it but it's starting to give me some serious bad vibes...I've had so much stupid **** happen to this car. I've gotten tickets for stupid a$$ charges...the green machine is just not making me happy anymore.

When it gets out of the bodyshop, I'm going to try getting rid of it for real this time. I've finally gotten my payoff down nice and low where I won't get totally screwed if I trade it in.

Look out for a part of of what little bit I have done to it.

Just my 2 cents worth of rant.

Default they can't see it

I hear you. I have been rear-ended and then the dude ran. I don't know how many times people have tried to change lanes into me. I swear that the box is so brightly colored that they don't see it. It doesn't even register as a car. Or maybe it's just the terrible Indiana drivers.

sorry for your bad luck, at least you didn't have to pay the deductable because the cops could not find the guy that was driving a classic caddy after I had three witnesses that all got his plate number. they were too busy laughing and telling me that I was in the wrong spot becaue thier dispacher told them the wrong intersection.

^now that sucks. I agree that it's such a bright green that it doesn't register as a vehicle. That must be why so many people drive by gawking with a "wtf" look on their face.

My friends sister oferred me her car to drive around while mine's getting worked on but I turned that offer down because I'd be too eager to just crash into everything I can with it.

Sorry to hear about your luck. And I know how you feel about the whole thing being pricey to fix.

My tC got hit by a rock in the passenger side rear - right behind the back window. It got hit so hard that it took the paint off. If I was anywhere else, I would swear that it got hit by a .22. When I had it looked at, the body shop said that it was going to take them 3-4 days to fix it and cost close to a grand to fix... all because of a stupid rock.

Luckily, I only have $130 deductible. But I still have to rent a car for 4 days to get it fixed.

Luck changes with the wind. I would never want to make a big decision based on luck. Luck and superstition wont make you happy or successful IMO. Bottom line if you like the box keep the box.

Thanks man. I'll let you know when I start taking her apart. That battery strap is gonna be sick when you get it done, I can't wait to see it.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be getting a GTI. I'll still be around SL though, I like you guys too much...and the VW forums suck lol

Hmm , believe it or not I been really doing alot of homework on the xb, and some tests, you can believe it or not. The car seems to be more accident prone with the stock tailights. I have proven this, I drive with the stockies i get tailgaited, I put my LED red ones people stay back a full 2 cars length ! and I switched and it always happens ! , next is HIDs, I duno I always felt it intimidates people on the road , when they feel the box some people just do not have respect for us boxes, especially soccer moms in hummers, Minivans, Denalis', etc. This is just my opinion but I could be wrong but it seems true no matter how many times I tested it , maybe new lights could change your luck but I wish you the best.

maybe people see your rs3's and think "green means go" and just crash into you. anyway, yeah, that sucks. my friend was hit when she was going straight down the road, and an oncoming car made a left turn right infront of her and her hard to miss bright red hyundai accent. thing got hit so hard i now call it the hyundai studder.

my advice, always drive with your headlights on, and whenever i park, i look around and try to pick the spot that i'm least likely to get hit by somebody backing out.

why get a gti? why not get the new xb, or xd? or step up to a tc. they are pretty darn awesome!

That's a shame that you've been having such bad luck...
What was it? Failed inspection, ticket for exhaust and now accident... yea, sometimes you just get that bad omen feeling.

Good luck with the GTI... it's a pretty sweet car.

A buddy of mine has an RS3 and was driving down the highway doing about 100 and passed like 3 cops along the way and NOT ONE pulled out. He even said he thought his car must be invisible.

I've always wanted a GTI even before I got the box. I kind of just settled with the xB.

If the GTI is what you really wanted, I would think the GTI is probably the right car for you...Sorry to hear about your luck! I had a car about 10 years ago that was an accident magnet. I never really liked the car, I "settled" for it because of the price, (didn't even like the bright red color) I added several things to make it more appealing to me but still hated hated it. It got hail damage the second day I had it, got backed into 3 times. all sorts of mechanical issues (mostly brakes) I even had 5 flats in 2 weeks time and a major blow-out on the highway a month after that! I think it knew I wasn't happy with it..lol. I traded it off as soon as possible and never had problems like it since (to those extremes anyway). I have always believed cars sense when your really not happy with them and seek revenge .
