Even on an un-lowered xB, the hitch can drag on driveway ramps. It is about 5" off the ground, so yours would be 3". nerdsports 04-23-2007, 03:47 PM Hmm, scary thought. I was considering getting a hitch for my xB whenever I purchased a waverunner. I'm going with D2 coilovers so I guess I could just jack up the rear if I am scared of the clearance. IceCube 04-23-2007, 03:59 PM this may sound redneck but what about air shocks for the rear if they make them. with the hitch on you could get around a inch more... bBlover 04-23-2007, 04:10 PM Umm, I thought you aren't supposed to tow anything with any Scion! waynesoffroad 04-23-2007, 04:46 PM My xB is lowered 2". I just bought a drawtite hitch. It is completly hidden behind the bumper. The reciever hitch slides in upwards. check it out- http://www.etrailer.com/productdetail.asp?partno=28501&vehicleid=7478&yearfrom=2004&h= waynesoffroad 04-23-2007, 05:03 PM Oh yeah! I also found a set of Air bags that fit inside the springs to help keep things level. http://www.airliftcompany.com There only about $75.00 at Summitracing Item air-60774. Thanks. draxcaliber 04-23-2007, 05:14 PM didn't anybody get the memo about scions not being designed to tow anything? that and we are putting cover sheets on all our tps reports now too, i'll make sure my secretary forwards you all a copy. XbbbbBox 04-23-2007, 06:10 PM I have used the Curt for a couple of years. As stated above - problem is with drop you will be too close to the ground. As it is I scrape once in a while (does not cause any damage) and as long as I am careful it is OK. IceCube 04-23-2007, 06:52 PM so with the hitch removed it is flush with the bottom of the bumper? do you have any pictures? im sure they said that so you dont tow your big boat, both my quad and motorcycle are under 500lbs so i dont see it as a real issue. waynesoffroad 04-23-2007, 08:05 PM Drawtite is rated at 200 lbs. tongue and 2000 lbs. towing weight. I believe the curt is the same. XbbbbBox 04-23-2007, 09:02 PM W/curt - squeare receiver sits just below bumper - top of square receiver touches bottom of bumper. waynesoffroad 04-29-2007, 05:20 PM Sorry it took so long but here are some picture's of my Drawtite hitch. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o276/waynesoffroad/DSC00294.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o276/waynesoffroad/DSC00295.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o276/waynesoffroad/DSC00296.jpg vintage42 04-29-2007, 05:47 PM My xB is lowered 2". Is there a clearance issue for the exhaust? I wish there was a plate on drawbar kit to protect the rear bumper cover from the trailer tongue. Here are the instructions to the Draw-Tite from their website: http://www.draw-tite.com/fitguides/pdf/N28501.pdf waynesoffroad 04-29-2007, 10:35 PM My xB is lowered 2". I did get the wiring kit with it. It just plugged in behind the tail lights. It only took 1 hour to install everything. waynesoffroad 04-29-2007, 10:38 PM The Draw-Tite looks good but why is the cross beam in two sections? Is there a clearance issue for the exhaust? Here are the instructions to the Draw-Tite from their website: http://www.draw-tite.com/fitguides/pdf/N28501.pdf I did'nt have any issues with it but I do have a TRD exhaust. You could always weld a plate behaind the ball to protect the bumper. brambling 04-29-2007, 10:51 PM Oh look they make things already that don't require welding. Unfortunately this one is only for 1" shank and not 3/4" but maybe somebody else makes something simliar: http://accessory-center.com/Bumper-Guard-The-Hitch-Guide-and-Stop.3839.stml wbw6cos 04-29-2007, 11:24 PM I have a Curt hitch on a regular height 06. My bike carrier does hit when backing in to my slightly inclined driveway. Angled approach works fine, though. You could temporarily fab a "simulated" hitch out of wood and check the clearances first hand before investing in a hitch. waynesoffroad 04-30-2007, 01:43 AM Oh look they make things already that don't require welding. Unfortunately this one is only for 1" shank and not 3/4" but maybe somebody else makes something simliar: http://accessory-center.com/Bumper-Guard-The-Hitch-Guide-and-Stop.3839.stml I bet it would work fine with a 3/4" shank. nikbrewer 06-05-2007, 01:00 PM what is the price on that set up and is anyone towing with a 5 speed? i just want to tow a 4 x 8 trailer to bet stuff from home depot on waynesoffroad 06-05-2007, 02:19 PM The hitch alone is about $93.00. But you also need a draw bar and wireing kit. Everything was about $150.00 with shipping from http://www.etrailer.com/ . I tow with a automatic but you should be fine with a 5 speed. All I tow is a 4X8 trailer with two dirtbikes on it. It still will cruise at 80 mph with no problems but if you have an aftermarket exhaust the noise is very loud inside. I try to keep it around 65-70 mph.
