Default Painted Speedo cover and got a new gauge cover..(pics)

So all. i got some more paint in and got to work on my speedo cover and also bought a new gauge cover. I know there are some runs in the paint, my fault, but it is going to stay that way for now. Until i get some more time

This is a different gauge but so you can kinda get the feel....

Let me know what you all think.

good workup on the spedo face but i hate sports, and looks to be hard to read.. although, you know how fast you are going, fuel level, etc... a+ for effort.. i would post my spedo i made, but then everyone would be biting my d!ck...
i would re-sand the spedo cover and re-paint it personally, but i am very crazy over minor details. while you are at it, spray the trim ring around the shift bezel, and chrome ring on your shifter there.. and your steering wheel controlls.. if you want to that is.... don't let me tell you what to do! overall a+ for effort!

Yea, I still got some more to do paint wise. painting the speaker covers now to even out the dash, then the trim ring, and finally the kick plate in the middle. After that I'll be done with the paint and may go back at that point and redo the paint.

Thanks for the props and no hard feelings on the sports thing, but you know the burgh, a drinking town with a football problem

Forgot to say, it is easy to read as long as you are not at standstill, lol. Yea the steelers wording is a bit hard to read when it is off.

Looks great.....I see I am going to have to get busy with some paint myself. This is another great idea for very little $$$...

how does someone "hate sports" that is like saying "I hate brunettes". SURELY, there is some form of sports you can enjoy. Racing? Darts? Juggling? Soccer?

Sorry for the threadjack... I'd love to compliment you on your work, but as a Chargers fan, I look at that and it pretty much looks like a steaming pile to me. j/k... nice work. You should keep with the theme... the car basically is like driving around in a gas powered Jerome Bettis, so it is a good fit.

Side note, I agree with the sand and repaint suggestion, it looks alot like Kordell Stewart's face.... yes, I did go there.

I like it! I would like it more if it was a Saints or LSU logo, but it still looks slick.

Fun!

My only critique is the reflectivity of the paint in the windshield. I had a Scirocco years ago that had some color on the dash and I hated that reflection!!

Looks cool though!

Here's some painting tips:
The first coat should be a mist covering coat.
Slow down on the time between coats of paint and keep the spray can at least 10 inches away from the surface.
Slightly overlap your strokes as if you were neatly covering the surface with tape.
Stay as perpendicular to the surface as you can.

Follow these guidelines and you won't have runs.

Nice work!

The gauge is different. the whole gauge lights up in the background instead of just the top half like on the original. if I get a chance i'll try to post up a night pic.

Thanks for the info. I actually figured out that I also had the piece hanging at the wrong angle. The paint ran forward instead or back. I should of caught that before I started painting. oh well. just something else I'll have to go back and correct later

looks great i love the lok in the car the one thing i recommend is paint your needle on the gauge as during the day it is hard to read exact mileage when you have sunglare

u know, especially with manual xb's, the speedo's legibility doesn't matter a whole bunch. it's pretty easy to know what speed you're going based on just the gear you're in and the sound you hear from the engine.

only time i really check my speedo is when i am going through a cop heavy neighborhood.

Actually, and quite surprisingly, it is easy to read the gauge even with the black needle during the day. i was worried about that but after having it in a few days now I really dont notice any difference.
