I'm not at the point where I need to replace struts yet, but was curious for when i do.

Although I like the way it looks, I'm not interested in lowering the tC. I find myself in too many places with sharp drop-offs into driveways or tall speedbumps, that I just don't want to deal with worrying about or smashing up my bumper. Coilovers are out of the budget, and I don't have the skill to set them up properly. I doubt anyone has the setup, but what would the handling be like with stock springs and TRD struts? I would assume it would stiffen up a little, but can someone with more experience give their $.02?

not sure the stock springs will compress enough to fit in the TRD struts. and if so, yes, your ride would be very rough.

i mean, u are in jersey, which is flat as a 10 year old girl, i'm in PA, and i have the TRD shocks and eibach springs...but your logic is a little backwards.

Gotcha, didn't know the "travel" (don't know how else to phrase it) is less for the TRD struts versus stock.

Because if the new shocks would keep the same suspension height but stiffen up the ride, then it would be worth it for the 99% that I'm not driving over a major road hazard. However, it only takes one driveway or speedbump to mangle a bumper.

I can't say I understand what you're saying. Do you mean that the roads in PA are 10x worse than Jersey? Or are you trying to say that topography makes a difference for a paved road?

yeah the trd shocks are shorter and would probably beat the crap out of you without lowering springs. why not get some stock height aftermarket shocks that aren't trd?

Is that what you want? Why would you want to do that, are you trying to improve the handling? From what you've posted thus far, it seems like sway bars might be what you need, as opposed to struts. The best performance match for the stock springs are the stock struts, imo.

I installed the TRD rear sway about 2 weeks after I bought the car, it's really a great item.

I'm not at the point that I would be replacing the struts for quite some time yet. I'm looking to improve the handling without lowering the ride height, and thought that different struts could do that. I think coilovers could work for what I want, but I don't want to spend that amount, nor do I think that I can set them up properly.

i know you dont want to lower the tC but i would think that if you want the TRD shocks why not go with something that will slam the tC like the TRD springs. It doesnt drop it much yet it matches up pretty well with the TRD shocks? Other than that i would just get another set of stock shocks since it would be the best route. You could contact TRDSparks.com and see what price they give you for the stock shocks?

they don't make tc specific shocks, but they probably do make aftermarket oem shocks for replacment of worn shocks.

Who does???? :) koni yellows are the only other OE replacement shocks on the market. and they're INSERTS (you cut open the stock strut housing, remove the shocks, and insert the yellows.

Well I'm running the TRD Struts with stock springs. I don't find the ride rough at all and actually like knowing I'm not going to bottom out. Bought the struts bacause I blew the stock ones with trd springs. I was gonna keep the springs but they settled so much that the car was to low for where I lived. I'll probably get coilovers so that I can lower the front a little more but not to much.
