rs3.0/rs2.0 stock subwoofer - power / amp turn on wire ??
Has anyone with an rs3.0 or rs2.0 been able to hookup an aftermarket HU w/o losing the sub?
So i recently installed the pioneer z1 and totally lost my bass.
It gets a signal because it thumps but there's just no power to the OOMPH and i've played with the EQ for hours.
I was told by a member they just went to the sub directly and tapped the sub amp on line in the back to a power source so it turned on w/ the car. But there really should be a line behind the HU correct?
From the rs2.0 sub dissection thread I've found this:
<SEE BELOW for the Solution!>
thanks in advance!

There are 7 wires that connect to the subwoofer. Three of them are the ground, power, and amp turn-on (most likely). I have a feeling that the remaining 4 are signal wires coming from both of the front speakers that get turned into the 2 that go to the woofer.
thanks in advance!
i have an rs2 tc with a aftermarket hu and stock sub hooked up.
The only thing I did was hook up my toyota PnP harness as normal but also wired up the amp turn on from radio to PnP harness. Blue to Blue. It works perfect. Sounds so much better then the stock pos hu.
I looked into the wires on the plug. Most of them went up to the front plug but some went the other way around the car. Im guessing they went to the speakers.
Just hook up the blue wire from the radio to the harness

oh wow, I actually grew up in huntington, haha wahsup neighbor?
I went to elwood though.
uhmm so to clarify. you're saying if my wiring harness was attached to the radio harness correctly it should work?
I got the harness used from a tc w/ no sub so that might be it.
or are you talking about something else... what's a pnp harness? ;P

im right around the corner from elwood. I used to drive a mtrix also. Xrs 6spd. Nice car.
PnP harness like you get from best buy or a car stereo shop. It's made for toyota and plugs into the stock toyota stereo harness. No cutting or splicing factory wires.
The harness is universal. So it wont matter if it has a sub or not.
Take out your stereo and look at the connection in the middle between the new radio harness and the aftermarket toyota harness. The wires should be soldered or crimp connected together. See of the blue wire from the pioneer has the blue wire hooked up

yeah i used the adaptor when hooking up my d3 and i still got the little bass. but with the rs2.0 sub i have a few questions:
1. about how much power as far as the frequency should i use?
2. if i wanted to change the sub about how many rms can it hold without blowing?
3. if i get an aftermarket amp can i use the same wiring?

ok got it, thanks! I think i remember seeing a blue wire, I'll look into it.

FYI for anyone with RS2.0 or RS3.0's with aftermarket HU's the amp turn on IS the blue wire on the toyota wiring harness adapter.
SWEEET! ;)

Toyota Harness Adapter (wrapped light blue) mine wasn't hooked up.

Auto Antenna Wire blue on the Z1 harness.
For the z1 I hooked it to the autto-antenna relay control terminal... the wire provides a switched + for an antenna booster, but for our purposes does the same thing.
Awesomeness! I didn't realize how much I missed the thump thump.
TY nd4spd_4_a_tc!!!

Glad it worked!
As to the Blue Auto Antenna wire VS the Blue/White Remote Wire. They're seem to be both switched power sources. If you look in the manual they both have notes about 12V. Since the woofer signal seem to be linked to the rear speakers, I believe we won't get additional controls either way, we just need the amp to be powered on. But the Blue/White is the wire that is labeled to go to the amp.
Please correct me if I'm wrong in my assumption!

Careful using the power antenna wire...I know with some radio manufacturers the power antenna wire will only be active when the radio (AM/FM) is on. When the radio is turned off the power going to that wire may also go off. Safest bet is to use the remote turn on wire (blue/white wire). Keep in mind that its different depending on manufacturer, so the power antenna wire may work...
that might explain why my ipod eq is all lame... or it might just be the ipod
haha i'm such a tard
gonna wire it to the blue&white and see if it fixes it this weekend.
I've been listening to the radio for the most part so it hasn't bothered me yet...
thanks tc4joe!
