View Full Version : Stafford Fabrication turbo kit
sfpower 09-11-2004, 01:42 AM well it seems that the person who has my proto-type kit doesn't take it very serious about meeting contract requierments and i'm going to need a another car to make the system on .now this is not a proto-type system i have already proven the fuel system and i already know how to make everything fit and work i just need someones car to do it on.
toytech 09-11-2004, 01:46 AM what are u using to tune the kit?
xboxPS2 09-11-2004, 01:48 AM i'm sure i live too far away but you could have my box if it were prudent

scionracerxb 09-11-2004, 02:40 AM unless i'm mistaken, you have to pay for the kit, and he installs & tunes it. :?
sfpower 09-14-2004, 05:04 PM well they finaly got ahold of me and they will be bringing the car to me on monday .i will be duplicating the turbo system and then we are going to go to the dyno and get some # for ya. this turbo system has been on two cars for over 7 months now without any problems the second car had the kit installed without me .their where no speciel instuction on how to drive like don't floor it passed second gear ,don't run more than 3psi on pump gas .this turbo system is complete w/ revolutionary fuel system. we created this fuel system for the toyota matrix and has proven to be a cure for many non-retun line fuel system cars. this kit sould be avalible in about a week and a half.
Stu_Gotti 09-14-2004, 05:14 PM Is this for the tC?
Munch 09-14-2004, 05:17 PM Is this for the tC?
Nope XB
Stu_Gotti 09-14-2004, 05:19 PM Damn!
superjeer 09-14-2004, 05:40 PM MUCH, when you get this kit, let me help you hook it up... cause I'll be next.. mmmm turbo.
Can't wait to see the numbers.. (and mixtures)
abbfanuc 09-15-2004, 05:13 AM hey SF,
I'm part of AMC Marketing. I know Chris personally. Maybe you could use mine. You can keep it till done. My car won't be going to SEMA this year so i will rebuilding it during this time
allblackxb 09-15-2004, 05:25 AM I have the stafford prototype. And i will be going to staffords shop on sunday sept 19th. Pretty much we'll take the kit off, get the piping all framed up so there can be a production version of this kit. Hopefully the numbers are good. It definately feels like 160whp but we'll find out. Also maybe getting new spark plugs and everything, to have it run right for the dyno. My dad and I want to be the first scion to hit 200whp. STAY TUNED!
tumal1 09-16-2004, 04:20 AM check please.
MyBoX 09-16-2004, 08:02 AM Hopefully you guys take some videos of all the runs cause dyno sheets won't do the trick here, there has been tons of talk about turboing scions, Greddy is not very happy with their result, so lets see how you guys will do it, GOOD LUCK !!! Sean
sfpower 09-17-2004, 02:48 PM its not about seeing how we'll do it .its about showing everybody that it was done 8 months ago.
MyBoX 09-18-2004, 03:47 AM Well, TRD made a kit 2 years ago but they just can't release it, because it creates too much heat, so its about who makes the most stable kit and keep the $$$$ / power ratio very reasonable for buyers, again everyone will need the proof and video is the best way to proof your statement !!! Take care Sean
sfpower 09-20-2004, 03:53 PM the box is at my shop right now. we're duplicating the kit and then we're go'in to nthe dyno!
superjeer 09-20-2004, 05:19 PM *baited breath* (and empty bank account)
sfpower 09-21-2004, 06:30 AM well i'm back from the dyno and vwe could only run 6.6 psi do to the week base spring on the wastegate but we picked up 85% i'm looking for alittle more so i'm changing the wastegate and going back tomarrow!
wgeee7478 09-21-2004, 06:50 AM Cool, keep up posted. I really want to go FI on my wife's xB badly. Not for the race, I think I'm too old for that now. She really needs it for the commute to work. The pleasanton hills over here at 680 are killing her because she doesn't have enough power to get up those hills. Especially if someone decides to slow down in front of her, once she slows down on a hill it takes freaking forever to get back up to speed again. It's an auto too, so before somebody starts flaming because I'm thinking of f/i on an auto, it's more of a necessity rather than the urge to go super fast and race civics.
superjeer 09-21-2004, 02:18 PM Why was the post linking to the civic forums deleted? This is not a sponsered sales thread. sfp isn't even a site sponser. I'm looking forward to this kit, but we can't delete negative threads for no good reason. If there IS a good reason then please replace the post with that reason rather than just deleting it outright. My understanding is that post had merit.

weak spring? is it pulling open under boost? Mine does that... lol... junk actuators.
Anyhow, what are the chances of you selling me a manifold w/ a deltagate 38mm flange???? I want to fit a gt28rs on the damn thing, and I have a deltagate sitting right here... i'm tired of this small smooth turbo ____... i want something serious.

I agree. There defiantly was interesting info over there. :?
Spider13 09-23-2004, 07:31 PM So whats the word? Did you get it fixed and run it again?
sfpower 11-11-2004, 05:06 PM well its been awhile we've been realy busy and we finally got back to the scion xb. the kit is completed and gigged for duplication. it is currantly set at 6.5 psi and producinig 130 hp and 132 tq. to the ground on an auto .we will be going back to the dyno in a week and a half to do the final programming for the kits. boost is only a couple a weeks away from being an affordable option.

Not bad at all...
Jays05EchoHB 11-15-2004, 12:50 PM Only 130whp? That's not much at all.
the car has what..~95whp stock? My Focus had 105whp stock and I was runing 220whp daily..I guess I was expecting the same % power increase.
What are you using for fuel management?
squirrel 11-15-2004, 05:05 PM Only 130whp? That's not much at all.

I think its down around ~88 whp.
empleh 11-15-2004, 07:03 PM isn't the focus a 2.0L or a 2.2L? 1.5L in the xB........
squirrel 11-15-2004, 07:55 PM isn't the focus a 2.0L or a 2.2L? 1.5L in the xB........
aaaah, yup. something like that.
hotbox05 11-15-2004, 08:07 PM dyno a manual. much better. alot more accurate numbers for most of us power hungry folks out there
hotbox05 11-15-2004, 08:08 PM most xb's with manuals get 92 whp stock
jdaniels 11-19-2004, 10:10 PM Only 130whp? That's not much at all.

Over 100% gain w/ a bolt on kit with no internal mods? Something sounds a little far fetched.
WAFFLES 11-23-2004, 10:10 PM interested in more info.
I've been asking for a while, can someone tell me what the stock injectors are rated at?
What was the fuel management for this setup?

Stock injectors are around 200cc, I have changed mine out for 2zz-ge injectors, which are 310cc.
WAFFLES 11-24-2004, 03:29 PM thank you sir. are these a peak and hold or saturated?
I'm sure 270cc is more than sufficient to support 200whp. :D
BoostedRex 11-25-2004, 12:30 AM But the 310cc injectors are a good idea. It's better to have bigger fuel injectors than what you actually need. The lower you can keep your injector duty cycle the better off you'll be in the long run. You don't want to max out your injectors.
I am interested in this kit. What kind of turbine are you using?? Like someone else asked, can we get a manifold with a flange for an external wastegate?? What kind of core are you using for the IC?
Zach
hotbox05 11-25-2004, 09:37 AM dude it's all about a motor swap or the greddy kit. either way works for me
kshymkiw 11-25-2004, 08:40 PM numbers seem a little low. My D15 in my honda, with a junkyard kit, could put down 150+ and my D16z6 put down almost 200. 130....If you can get those numbers up to 150-160 at 8 PSI...then you have a good kit
BoostedRex 11-26-2004, 07:48 AM I still haven't heard any answers to my questions. I've been dealing with turbos for several years now. More info is needed before any of this is believable.

allblackxb 11-30-2004, 11:55 PM I have this turbo kit. I've the one who got those numbers. Just to let you guys know, my stock xb with an auto got 72whp and now it's up around 140whp ish. To me that looks like 100% gain at the wheels. I think it was to much of a deal for the gain. I love this turbo kit. It is crazy to drive, when i floor it and it down shifts there's a lot of toruqe steer. Plus everytime i see my box coming down the street and i hear the blitz B.O.V. it brings a smile so big to your face it's incredible. If you don't believe the numbers check out my cardomain.com site in my signiture and watch the first 2 vids. In that vid we got 130whp at like 6psi. Just think that's more power then that Power Engineering Supercharger when it's on a 5 speed. Remeber this is an Automatic. My 0-60 is sub 8's and maybe mid 15's in the 1/4 mile. I'll run it in a few weeks and let you guys know.
hotbox05 12-01-2004, 12:37 AM hmm....is voiding ones warranty worth the speed....hmmm? a question for at least me to ponder
bBOXD 12-01-2004, 08:52 PM allblackxb- Would you mind posting up your DYNO sheet for that run? Thanks.
allblackxb 12-02-2004, 02:52 AM Let me find the dyno sheet ill take a pic and post in in my imagestation and cardomain link. I'll have it posted tomorrow. The numbers on the dyno sheet werren't for that run. On the sheet we got a 129whp and 129tq. That was like the 20th run though. Our very first run we got a 135whp and a 130tq.
hotbox05 12-02-2004, 08:27 AM nice improvements. if i only had the monetary resources like you then i too would be turbo'd and if i had enuff bread woulndt have to worry bout not havin a warranty

Understood, I know you want to keep duty cycle around 80% or so. However, from what I've seen with Honda injectors and 100% duty cycle on a 240cc injector, 190-200 is possible.
I don't think 310s are overkill, and they would definitely leave more room for power over the 270.
Hell, I doubt the rods could even handle 200whp in this engine. Time will tell though. :D
bBOXD 12-03-2004, 04:24 AM Dyno sheets please. :)

c'mon man, 72 whp stock? that can't be right
bBOXD 12-03-2004, 04:29 PM That number could be right since it is an Auto. Has anybody mentioned what type of DYNO they used? Dynojet, Mustang, etc...?

squirrel 12-08-2004, 11:04 PM so u got the noob avatar now what next a wakabe badge for yer box?
Nope. I already have one!
allblackxb 12-24-2004, 02:13 AM I cant find the dyno sheets. Anyways stafford is going to do a couple more runs on it in a few weeks or so and i'll use those numbers. Sorry for the wait.
showpaojoe 12-25-2004, 05:05 AM It's not like people were expecting anything anymore
hotbox05 12-25-2004, 05:51 AM yeah kinda died out. didnt you run like 126 allblackxb?
-Keith- 12-25-2004, 06:32 AM so u got the noob avatar now what next a wakabe badge for yer box?
Nope. I already have one!
I seen it
allblackxb 12-28-2004, 09:36 PM Actually it was a 135whp and 150lb/ft through an automatic. If we had a stick which get roughly 20 more whp than an auto you would see about 155whp and 170lb/ft. My stock scion got a 72whp run, and 5 speeds get 92whp.

Maicca 01-20-2005, 05:20 PM so u got the noob avatar now what next a wakabe badge for yer box?
That's wakaBA, and it has evolved into a hip thing in Japan, if you turn it sideways and make it an arrow. I've seen that many times.
hotbox05 01-20-2005, 10:39 PM ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
i apologize. lol
and yes allblackxb blew his motor. blew something bottom end , and if my knowledge of this motor is correct its where the rods connect to the piston wrist pin. and if i remember watching those dyno vbids b4 then u only got 126hp. and he was on steelies.

This is starting to sound familiar.
