Default What can she do anyways?

I am aware of what this car has and such. But, what is the most horse you can get out of the xa? Do the difference in years even matter. Which would be better? I have an 06. another thing I don't like is the limiter. I can only get this thing to 110, then it kicks me down. What can I do to eliminate this problem? I know not to expect miracles, but all I want is for this thing to take off mighty fast. I have some knowledge of cars, but not the most, so bare with me on this. thx

Unless you want to go FI, you're pretty much limited to IHE and a lightened pulley. You're not going to squeeze a whole lot out of the egg, but 110 seems low.

you can make them very fast. if you want, tlak to todd from turbo toyotas. he has a kit for the xa. with its low curb weight and just alittle boost, the xa is a very quick little car. just make sure you take care of your footwork first, you know, tires, suspension and brakes.

ya, but just wondering what my options are. I like the body style as well as interior. To be a lil quicker is all I want.

get turbo kit. then it will go fast, remember the car only has 98hp or something like that by the time it reaches the wheels

your options are only limited by how fat your wallet is.

i suggest you start with your footwork first. tires, brakes, suspension. this won't make your car more powerful, but with these improvements you can drastically increase your cornering speed which will make the car quicker on twisty roads and just a total blast to throw around turns.

i can't stress enough that you should do tires and brakes enough because when you add to your accelleration, you have to balance the equation and add to your braking performance too.

so get some light weight wheels with wider rubber and some upgraded front brakes pads and rotors. then spring for something like trd sport shocks and whatever lowering springs suit your taste in dropping your ride height. combine that with some strong front and rear-anti sway bars from hotchkis and you've got one tight right. you can get alot of these parts from great websites like www.trdsparks.com.

then, it depends on how much power you want to make. a good intake, header, exhaust combo can be satisfying. especially in such a light weight car. you can new lighter pullys to reduce parasitic drain from the accessory belt, but there are risks with that according to some people because they aren't balanced or have a dampner on them.

or just go big and get either a greddy supercharger (it is for the xb i think, so it will take some modifying to work on an xa) or a turbo toyota kit made for you car. you will also need injectors. gauges, and maybe a stronger clutch. but if you do that, you will have everybody watching you blur past them saying "was that an xa?"

that is what i'd do if i had an xa. maybe when i'm done with my tc, i'll do that to my gf's xa when she's not looking.

i'm a broke college student, so i know how that can be. just upgrade things as they need to be replaced on the way to your goal.

wore out my tires, put on better ones, needed new brake pads, bought upgraded pads and rotors then. then i did suspension, next step will be stage 3 clutch, fidanza flywheel and trd torque differential because they are all great parts to upgrade and located in the same area, so it saves on labor to do them all at once.

i'm doing all this first because i want the car to be balanced, and good at lots of things, not just some boost happy understeering can't stop in time dragster. also, doing it like this, means that if i have to stop for some reason, like due to finacial hardships, i don't have a bunch of turbo parts laying around that i have to sell.
then i going to start accumulating my periherals, like gauges and gauge holders, one step colder plugs.

then...god willing, i'll finially order a stage 1 turbo kit...and live happily ever after!

I just hope u weren't doin 110 with the stock rubber, they're not designed to handle that kind of speed. As a result they heat up n start to break down which can result in tire failure. I second what draxcaliber said about the suspension. Wheels n tires r a must, as a wider tread plus a higher speed rateing will allow u to run those speeds safely. Combine it with a good suspension setup and ur car will be much more stable at top speed. Unless u can figure out how to remove the top speed limiter and get another gear in the car or regear it ur pretty much stuck with that speed.

i don't know the rating on xa tires, but usually the car is limited to a top speed slower than the tires are rated for, because if they wern't equiped to handle their top speed from the factory, they could sue the manufacturer. atleast that is what i think happens...

ofcourse, tc's have tires for going over 150 mph when they can't brake 127 unless the govenor is removed, and even then they gear out at 135 lol!

^ They're good for looks. If you want speed, aesthetics should be the last thing on your list.
