hey guys...my xb's at 31000 miles...i have had NO problems with the car to date, but i noticed the manual says its time to bring it in,..the only thing is, they want 300$ for:

oil change
air filter
spark plug change
rotate tires
inspect nuts and bolts on chasis and body
replace differential oil
replace manual transmission oil

also, INSPECT a bunch of stuff

now, a couple days ago, my drivers front brake started squeaking and hasnt stopped...i drive in the mountains a lot causing a lot of stress on my brakes...im assuming these need changed--these arent covered under warranty correct?

any recommendations on what services need to be done and what i should reasonably pay

THANKS IN ADVANCE

dan

replace differential oil
replace manual transmission oil
Does the xB have a separate differential case? I thought the differential and transmission were in the same assembly, hence "transaxle"? xB is my first front wheel drive, so pardon my ignorance.

And the owner's manual mentions the differential and transmission oil in the towing section so it's not NEEDED at 30k unless you are. Yeah, probably good to have it done anyway.

The usual cost of a dealer 30K service is around $350. You do not say what you can do yourself. Many people can change their motor oil, manual transmission oil, air filter, cabin filter, plugs, and rotate tires. (Tires are supposed to be done every 5K; if your tires have not been rotated, you might consider new tires.)

If you can comfortably do all that, then just have the dealer do the inspection and the brakes. It sounds like you might have gone too long and scored the rotors. If you have an automatic transmission, you might let the dealer do that fluid change.
