Anyone notice that the TRD swaybar for the 2nd gen is now more like the Whiteline swaybar for the 1st gen xB? It looks like it connects to the bottom of the shocks and clamps to the torsion beam.

Go to scion.com and build a 2008 xb and check it out.

It looks identical to the one for the tC.

the swaybar is now in front of the wheels with about a 12" long rod end connecting it to each strut.

How much for dealer to install .......Is it worth it???

Good lord, does your car have every possible option on it already? Overhead console, exhaust, swaybars, HID, 5 axis kit, etc? Maybe we need another forum just for your car. :) Looks great BTW!!!

How do you like the TRD exhaust? Is it a lot louder than stock or the same? Any drone at highway speeds?

Does the middle of the the rear sway bar connect to anything? Can it be installed at the port?

Just the one over engine???Will car handle alot better???

I recently had the TRD sway bars installed, front and back, and I have to say I love driving the car even more now. It corners where I point it with a flatter, more even ride, less tipsy. Makes handling feel a bit tighter (in the good way).

Also I have a buddy, sure you've seen him on here with the modded orange and white box, anyway He has the TRD exhaust and I had him rev it for me to see if it sounds any different...no, note throatier or deeper, pretty much the same.

I can't quite figure out what the TRD rear sway bar does other than look nice and add weight to the car. It attaches only to a rigid rear beam by means of rubber bushings. HTF does that in any way reduce body sway or even stiffen the already rigid rear beam? IMO it's strictly for show.

OTOH, the TRD axle-back exhaust makes a noticeable difference. I'm glad I bought the TRD exhaust but wish I had skipped the rear sway bar. YMMV.

The rear axle is designed to flex and bend, hence the name, torsion beam. I looks like it would do nothing, but trust me, it does stiffen the rear suspension. I am going to wait for some aftermarket bars with poly bushings.

Interesting. The rear axle beam looked more like a rigid type to me but perhaps it is a torsion-beam type afterall. In that case I guess I'll be keeping the sway bar. Sorry Fred.

Yup those two bolts and the retainer clamps where it goes inside the existing suspension piece. You can see these in the pics above. They are the triangular shaped clamps that are anodized.
It only adds about 10 minutes if you happen to have the shock bolts out to install a set of rear springs anyway. :wink:

any elaboration on the effectiveness of this sway bar? im looking to buy it but just dont want to be three wheelin in my neighborhood...

Where is the best place to buy these? there is a FRONT sway bar or you talking about the strut tower brace?
I really noticed how much better the tC ran with the TRD rear upgrade.
This new xB is really tippy even in a slight breeze. It really needs upgraded sway bars bad!

I still think its very strange to see a sway bar that does not even hook up to the body of the vehicle.

just installed the rear sway bar looks nice!!! just notice a liitle better cornering not a whole lot.....like i said looks nice!!!!!! :rofl:
