That right boys and girls, I am heading about 160 miles away on Tuesday to pick up my running/driving 86 Cressida Wagon. It has 200k on it, but still runs good.

Next on the list is STRIPPAGE of all non-essential parts, including the 5M-GE and A/T. In will go either a 7M-GTE or 1JZ-GTE with 5-speed tranny. A few tweaks, including a welded-diff, and this beast will be ready for the track. I will keep you posted!

Man, I love projects like these. Take a cheap POS beater and make it into a toy you can throw aruond and not give a sh*t about.

NICE! I talked the guy down to $900 from $1000... going tomorrow. This thing is gonna be sick. :) I can't wait til the 240SX guys see me taking it sideways at the track.

Pulled some baseline dyno runs on the car tonight.
#1: 102.3 hp / 126.1 ft-lb
#2: 87.5 hp / 107.5 ft-lb
#3: 76.3 hp / 97.4 ft-lb

After the third run the car started puking coolant and the catalytic converter started glowing orange. I will have more baseline stats soon!

OK, picked up the donor Supra today for $600 from Craigslist. Has brand new wheels on it -- and a failry clean and straight body. (Targa!) After I am done with the suspension and drivetrain I am hoping to make most of my money back by parting the rest of the car.

There are a couple cool Cressidas in that thread! I really like the older one... from the back it definitely has a little Jaguar Sedan influence.

Yeah, the original plan was to have my buddy do the swap. I didn't have the time from the beginning, and he owed me some favors (and owns a swap that specializes in this stuff). But his schedule got backed up and the season passed without the cars being touched. Instead of sitting on them for the winter and hoping he found the time before spring I decided to let him off the hook.

I decided that I want to go older-school anyway... old Corolla or Carina or Corona coupe or something. My eyes are open.
