| so yeah, will throwing in an HID kit be as much of a problem such as in a corolla or any other DRL vehicle... unless you never accidentally put the setting on "auto" DRL.... anyone triend this yet? |

| Don't see what the problem would be, especially if you used a relay harness for power. The Xenon bulbs have 10X's the life span of the halogen ones! |

| well in my xB, HIDs were no problem, it didn't have DRL, but i have a rolla, and if the hids kicked in w/o you manually switching them to "on" they do this strobe flashing and burst.... but the camry has DRL but with an off option.... so i was just wondering if anyone had experience with this yet.... without having to cut wires to disable DRL.... but thanks for your reply! |

| I wonder if it is a power issue when the 2 go on together ballasts would not get enough juice causing them to go on/off? |

| maybe, but halogens use 55w and HIDs use only 35w..... |

| I BELIEVE WHEN DLR ARE ON, IT IS AT A LOWER WATTAGE, TO EXTEND LIFE OF HALOGENS, WHICH IS PROBABLY WHY YOUR HID'S STROBE. THEY'RE NOT GETTING ENOUGH POWER TO KEEP THE MODULE ON. |

| Might be right on the lower wattage the Kits I have won't fire the ballasts at all if the power is too low, yes they do run at 35w but the ballasts need a boost of power to initilize and fire the ignitors so at start up they draw more current.. |

| interesting stufff... but then that doesnt make sense.... if i have HIDs in the corolla, when it senses it needs light, it makes the lights (headlights) brighter, and fogs on and interor (like control panel lights turn on... so the kick it needs should be there... its only if you don't disable DRL will HIDs in the carolla be a problem.... if you turn them on yourself it works perfectly.... just like in the xB.... |

| If the DRL go from dim to bright for the low beam function hook it up to a relay harness, then as long as there is enough current with the DRL on to fire the relay the bulbs will get full voltage from the battery and waalaa lights! |

wait so am i understanding this correctly?
so if you were to put a HID kit in the camry... in the place where the DRL would be. so swapping the DRL bulbs for the xenons, (is this correct?) then as long as you have the relay harness it should be fine?
sorry i'm just want to know cuz my parents are gettin a camry |

hey there... u in hawaii? ok, well i went ahead and chanced it... and guess what!!! it works perfectly..... the lights turn on when it gets too dark w/o the stupid flicker that the corolla has... i think its because it has the completely off feature wheareas the corolla doesn't....
so yeah.... get the camry, and get the HIDs, and get a SHOPO sticker (if your in 808).... it's probably not as sweet as the accord... (consumer reports this month) but it's still a kickas$ car.... i was going like 85mph thinking i was going 55.... it's smooth.... |

| oh, and btw, i got the guy at eurosport by ala moana to install it... did a really good job for a decent price.... i did my corolla HID myself... and they kinda died.... but then again, i didn't mount the ballast... i kinda just left them under my hood.... whatever.... send Q's my way if u got any... good luck! |

and also, so the xenons are ON b/c they are DRL. like they are dim when not much light is needed and when it's dark it FULLY gets bright? |

relay harness like the ones nokya makes are only for halogens, cuz the bulb is brighter by drawing more wattage than the 55w stock... HID's, one ones with a ballast, are about 35waatts and draw significantly less power so in short, NO, you don't need a wire harness.... just the cables to ballast then to bulb, but mostly all kits have this, so don't worry about that...
xenon's don't have dim/bright... ur still in the mindset of halogens..... the 07 camry uses a halogen for it's high beam, and during DRL ON mode, it runs these halogens at reduced power.... the xenons in the low beam are continually off.... only when the car detects not enough light, the lows power on and drl turns off and regualr lows are on.... does that help?
now if ur asking if u put HIDs in the high beam, that's probably when ur going to run into flicker trouble.... |

ooo ok now i see. yeah i've always wondered about DRL cuz this is going to be the first car to have it (don't even have the camry yet). oh alrite that makes sense now about the high beams being the DRL's. shootz sounds good man.
soo..what else is there to discuss about the camry now? |

worst compared to v6.... and probably the 4cyl cuz the extra weight of the battery.... but if anything, the hybrid takes about 10-20 secs. to turn on.... a little irritating in hawaii since i usually park in the sun, and NEED A/C ASAP! but yeah, still overall a good car... |
