Well took a LONG look at the xD intake system tonight. Basically in a nutshell it SUCKS. The intake sucks are directly from the engine bay close to the radiator on the drivers side through the ugly snorkle like thing.

During my series of tests over the next few days, I will be doing a few tests. See the snorkle is designed to sorta suck air from the drivers side fender, yes there is 0 airflow going into the fender as the drivers bumper vent is blocked just like the passenger. I bet if I open the drivers vent up, I could drop intake temps while moving by at least 30F.

places like autozone now carry the components to custom make your own cold-air intake. didnt look at the prices, but its basically a selection of straights and bends with fittings and such, allowing you to piece together an intake. could be worth experimenting with.

now just to get rid of the stock intake manifold...

Isnt that for cold weather starts, so the engine heats up faster???

Wow, I'll need to drop by the local Autozone and check it out... sounds like way more fun than buying a pre-fab. How tough was the install? Doesn't seem to me like it would be really tough...

I would say they're probably going to hit the market later this year honestly. I know K&N should be coming out either in the summer or early fall. The car is barely a year old, give it a few more months for things to come out.
