| Posted: 10/2/03 5:21PM Post subject: Is your Radio/CD equalizer set to xB or xA? |
|
|
Just found out after getting hold of an instruction manual that the radio/CD has two different equalizer settings, one for the xA and the other for the xB. The radio installer is supposed to correctly set it to your car. In my case it wasn't. I have a xB but the equalizer was set to xA, which is the default.
Changing the setting is simple: just hold the SSP button in until you hear a beep, and then use the volume + and - buttons to change from xA to xB. I haven't had time to check it out but am assuming the setting makes an audible difference. |

| I drive an xB, but to be honest I like the setting on xA better. I usually roll with that. |

| Glad I'm not the only one that thinks the box sounds better set for XA and FEEL. Had a guy with an XA at a local show couldn't understand why his radio sounded so bad. It was set for TC. |

hah... yeah i had some work done on my car by the dealership. I assume the disconnected the battery (radio settings were all gone..)
Afterwards I was sure my stereo sounded "weird..." Couldn't really explain it or describe it.. it was just different.
Then while glancing through the manual I cam across the part that talks about the EQ... and fixed the problem.
I was kind of mad... You'd think the scion dealer would know this right? (riiiiiggghhhhttt...) |

| Yes, the tC eq blows, xB is alright, but the xA setting and "feel" are the best for the stock radio. |

You might want to try xA, it sends even more bass. |

I use the xA setting in my xB, but I prefer HEAR over FEEL. FEEL seems to distort at a lower volume than HEAR. But the xA setting seems to spread the music better in the xB space.
I don't have a tC option since they didn't exist when my radio was built. |

| I tried all three settings in my xA. The xA setting seems much louder and better. |

| Might have to try the xA sound, I have upgraded the dash speakers with 4.5 Pioneers, and have 2 bazooka subs in the back, so I'll see if xA eq pumps out better bass or not |

| Hmm...when I try xA in my box the speakers crackle/pop a little even at low volumes. I have volume at 15, base at 5, trebble at 3 and balance/fade at 0. Listening to something with heavy base gives me a slight crackle...xB setting is a little more subdued sounding but I don't get that. |

| I get crackle either way. This is the first time I have had factory speakers since I was 15. I have to get rid of them ASAP. |

| xA, SSP feel, Treble +5, Bass +4. sounds the best to me. Can't wait for my sub to arrive then it should sound even better. |
