|
|
Do the Scion xDs have a mute button on the steering wheel audio controls? What about an outside temperature gauge? I don't remember seeing those on my test drive, so I wanted to check.
Oh, is the CD changer a 6disc or single disc?
Thanks! |

no mute button, no ouside temp gauge, and single CD with the base radio (cant remember about the premium head unit).
its nothing that really bothers me, i drive by so many banks that im constantly reminded about how hot it is outside. |

Press and hold the Mode button and it will turn off the Head Unit.
No outside temp gauge. I miss that much. |

Thank you both so much for the quick reply! I couldn't find the answer by looking through the brochure or from the specs online. I guess if I wanted to mute while driving I could just switch to another mode that didn't have anything active playing, right?
Outside temp gauge isn't a deal breaker but it sure is a nice feature. I'm coming from an RX8, so I guess I'm just a bit spoiled! |

It might be easier to "mute" it by holding the mode button for 3-4 seconds and have the head unit turn off rather than try and goto a mode without any sound.
My question might be why you want to mute it, if its for a cell phone, its possible the head units still have the ability (but would have to be modified to be able to) info on this: http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=50870
Other than that, its a great choice, a co-worker of mine just got the RS1.0 xD. |

Well, my RX8 has a mute button and I use it when I get a call, if I think I hear a siren or if something happens while I"m stopped and I need to hear around me. Holding the mode button would work, or I can just quickly press "volume down" until its off or just really low.
Thank you for the link!
Yes, I'm very excited to get this car! The big selling point was the fact that I can fit my bike in the back and it gets great mpg. I like the body kit on the RS1 because it gives it an aggressive sporty look and it handles pretty well for a 4 banger. I'm getting the Manual Transmission. :) |

Oh I'll definitely post pics! My dealer is getting one shipped to them (it's still at the Port of Entry getting "hot lava'd"). I plan to get wheels, tint, quick shifter and Greddy exhaust once I have her in my hands! If I go through the dealer I'll pay more for all that stuff.
Can I just add 16" wheels to the existing tires, or do I have to do something different since the tires are steel with hubcaps and not alloy to begin with? |

Nice, good to see that you will be modifying it (especially changing the wheels)
If you get wheels that are the same size or very close to the same size, they should be able to re-mount the tires. If its steelies or alloys, doesnt matter, its the physical size of the wheel rim and tires that matter. |

| If you are wanting the external temp gauge, you can get a Gentex Mirror with temp and compass. In addition you can upgrade to Homelink, & maplights. I just picked one up off of ebay. A little pricy, but most mods are. The temp sensor is probably the hardest thing to install. |

| Thanx Dxnoics! I'll check out ebay for that Gentex mirror. Could the dealer install the temp sensor? |

| I would probably go to a car stereo place to get it installed. The hardest part is getting the wire through the firewall and sliding the clip on the sensor in a good location in front of your grill. |

| there is a mute button on the head unit itself, you would just have to reach over and press it. |
