how long would it take for a true coilover setup (tein, f2, bg, progress, megan, ksport, hks, etc). to blow if you were constantly running the lowest drop with normal driving?

I doubt that's even possible to know. Depends on the brand, the roads you're driving on, etc. I don't think anyone could really guess at that.

too many variables, mostly on road condition and driving habits.. I suggest getting a good brand though with good product support that way a rebuild would be easy if the shocks blows

TOMORROW!, It really depends on how bad the roads are where you live, I know the roads here in Maryland SUCK BALLS, I hate driving here especially in Baltimore, if you're like me you'll probably get bored w/your setup before they blow out and move on to something else

Gonna echo what everyone else is saying.

I can say this, when I got coilovers I started to drive very cautiously and it helps a ton. I never speed because you never know when that unsuspecting bump is gonna come up.

judging from another thread around here about their ksports completely snapping in half after 5k miles and a big bump....it really does depend a lot on road conditions...basically what everyone else is saying.

^^ not really. it was just that the person hit a deep pot hole at somewhat of a high speed... forgot how fast but, pothole, BIG DEEP pothole will probably bend or snap a few parts on your car. it just depends on where the force was pushed towards. he couldve bent his rims, or twisted his lower control arms, but the force was all directed towards the coilover.

OP: just like what everyone has said, too many variables to tell.

Pretty quickly from what I have seen on many different brand coilovers dropped over the years.

Is there anyway to check to see how well the coilovers are doing? I just bought used ss-p's and im debating if I should send it in to get serviced before I put them on.

the thing you can prolly is do a visual inspection for crack or oil leaks.

well they have a little dirt, I guess I will clean that off and look for cracks or leaks. They only had like 25K miles on them

yeah you can clean them up and try adjusting to different height.. otherwise it should be good, anything goes wrong you can send it to tein for a rebuild

I've had my SSPs w/pillowball mounts on for about 10k miles, I'm nowhere near slammed (it gives you poor handling) I have a 1.5" gap in the rear and a 1.25" gap in the front. Rears are at full stiff and the fronts are in the middle and so far they are in great condition even after 5 autocross events.

My SSPs have been on for almost 20k mi and they're doing great. Took em about a year to break in and stop creaking tho. lol.
