| I put a deposit down on a 2008 Scion xD and I was wondering what the difference between the 2008 and 2009 is going to be? I know that there is about a $100 difference, but is that it? Should I just go ahead and get the 2008 or wait for the 2009? |

| No more 2008s are being made, so you will only get a 2008 if it comes to your lot. There is a thread around here somewhere where someone else was having this dilemma. No changes between the years other than the price, so far. |

| well, the car that I put a deposit on was a 2008. I don't know if they are getting it from a sister lot or something. I told them the color that I wanted and they found it for me. They told me it would be here in about 10 days. |

| So far, the only difference that I think has been potentially reported is that the 2009 has an auto lock option when the car starts moving. But, this has not been confirmed. For all intents and purposes, 2009 is a carryover model of the 2008 carrying with it a +$100 increase. Its really a personal preference. I bought a 2008 this week... some others will want to wait a few more weeks to get the newest version. |

Thank you. If there is no difference, then I don't see the point in waiting and then having to pay $100 extra. It will still be new.

he may save $100 by buying a 2008 model, but when it's time to trade it in, a 2009 will be worth more than $100 over a 2008. |

x2. Just buy the 09. $100 is nothing when it comes to buying a car. |

I don't totally buy this... two cars, a 2008 Scion xD and a 2009 Scion xD, with the same upkeep/miles in 5 years will not be discernible in trade-in value. Its even less important to get the new model if you keep cars forever. |

only thing you said i agree with is if you keep the car forever, it won't make any difference. if you think a 2008 will get as much as a 2009, within the first 5 years, you're mistaken.

| I decided to change my order to the 2009. The dealer said that I would only have to wait a couple more weeks for the 09, so I told him to go ahead and switch it. Thank you all so much for your help. |

| I've seen used 08 xD's going for more than new xD's because of their immediate availability... holding value pretty well so far. |

you're right, the dealer will rape you if you let him, but how much do you think you'd get for an 08xd if you traded it for an 09xd? i'll wager that all of a sudden the 09 will be worth more. |

It doesn't matter much what you personally think. The only thing that matters is what the Blue Book Value says in the end. And in the end.... the blue book value (resell value of any car) will always look at the car's official Model Year as one factor.
It's only one factor in the overall resale value of a car, but it's still a factor. |

Thats funny. The kelly blue book shows the 2006 tc worth more than a 2005 tc. Where are you getting your info from? I went to www.kbb.com and put in the same exact info for an 05 and and 06 and the 06 is worth almost $1,000 more. |

Get an 09, trust me if you ever want to resell or trade in your car. When I was looking at several used car (Accord, Lexus, TSX), I notice that even though a 07 and 06 had the same milage, the 07 will always cost 500 to several thousand more.
Used car buys want newer model because they assume it has more feature and fixes from the previous fix. When I was looking at a new TC, they were clearing out the 07 for like a thousand less to make room for the new 08.
So get an 09 if you can, newer = better resell value. |

| I was playing around tonight on the Scion Website and it appears that the 2009 Xd has VSC as Standard Equipment. So, I built a 2008 with VSC and it was around $500 more than a 2009. Anybody know if this is true? |
