I don't think the brake booster should fail on a xB2 yet. Heck, the brake booster on my 73 Land Cruiser is still good. Warranty should cover it, if not, find another dealer to fix it.

it might be your vaccum check valve too, usually those go bad before the booster would. what is your car doing?

I'm guessing you just want better braking. All you need is better brake pads and steel braided brake lines. If you want to get crazy and have lots of cash, buy the TRD big brake kit:

Did yours fail already? Take it to the dealership for warranty work (if you're under 36,000 miles).

I've never seen a Scion underbody kit being installed, but when I worked for Acura, the service technicians NEVER had any reason to get close to drilling into the firewall when installing the underbody kits.

Tell him to buy you a brand new brake booster, his fault.

I'm assuming the guy thought he had to drill through the firewall for a power wire to a transformer of sorts for the neonzzz.
I'm with buickid and UNOHxB... It's his deal.
Is it just the resevoir or the actual metal booster that contains the diaphgram? |

Yeah they are really expensive too, if you had a shop install it they are required to fix anything that they messed up. Retail on the booster alone is: $585.17 and we could sell it for $456.43 but either way its still a lot of money.

Man, I hope that guy doesn't actually work for a shop. There are two very easy places to get through the firewall on a second gen that dont' require going through the metal.
