|
|
My questions is I am thinking about getting the Axis Racer X wheels. 15x7 in the front and 15x8 in the rear. I am running tein S-tech springs now. What tires should I be running?
My thoughts after doing some searching and reading was that I could get away with 185/60/15 on the front and 195/60/15 on the rears? I want that staggered and stretched look. I just don't want it to look like its got snow tires on it.
Also do you think that I will get the drop I need to fill the wheel well gap with the tein springs?
Lastly will I need spacers for any of the wheels? Not sure what the offset is for the front but I know that the offset for the rear is -27 which gives it a 5 inch lip. I read somewhere that these wheels are practically made to fit the xb.
Thanks for all the help.

You're probably going to rub like hell in the rear.
The Racer-X pokes like a mofo. |

| Now where do you think it is going to rub? Will the fender well hit the tire? |

it will rub all over. like the tire will rub on the fender itself first I would think.
maybe these two pics courtesy of SAKURA will help you see. he is running the 15x8 all around with a 195/50 tire.

It's gonna rub everywhere.
Those wheels are really only for people who are willing to cut up the body and flare it.
If you want something that will fit nicely without any significant rubbing, get a 15x8 set of 501s. |

anyone know what suspension he is running? I see what you are saying about them sticking out. I wonder why in that pic they look like they stick out so much more than the pics on the axis site?

It's all in the angle of that pic.
Trust me, I've seen these in person, they even poked beyond fender flares. |

yezzir, they do! My black 1st gen i had Racerx 15x8 in the rear and even did the -3 camber kit, it rubbed mad, i had S techs as well.
Then did this...
but then i did this...
I still have all 6 wheels. Are the Racer Xs readily available now? Back when i was getting mine they said they were having shortages due to production problems and didn't know when more would be available...I went through HELL on my final decision of those, then traded it...I will own another some day, I still  1st gens! |

the pw pic is my ride with goldline 2in. down. w/195/50 falken.
it will rub unless you either go stock height or cut fenders and run flares, or go air.
im okay with the rub, since its on top of the tires instead being on the sidewalls like the 002 which fenders cut into the sidewalls.
with driver and my twins in the rear (kids weighing 100lbs. combined), and spare, i can handle the rub. on fwy 80+ and rebounding it rubs. full lock turn on front rubs a tad on the front fender/bumper bolt. very minimal.
if you camber the rear, the rub will be prominent due to the top of the rear tire will be closer to the fender.
all in all for me, i can handle the rub.
btw, the sticker on the tire tells me thats a fresh tire . . . . . :) |

| sciondude410 , why not follow thru with your plan but stick with the 15X7s all around. That would look HOT! |

Hi jdmtoybb, got any sideway pics of your BSP with the axis on?
I wanted to get them RacerX so bad, but I live in a hilly area and do a bunch of loading. The only way to use the RacerX would be going back to stock height, which is something I'm not too keen about..
*sigh* |
