I'm looking into buying new components for my new setup, and have been reading all the different reviews on different models. However, I'd like to somewhat narrow my selection. I mainly listen to techo/electro/electronic etc. What are some good component speakers that will make these kinds of genres crisp, clear, dynamic, and lively? Also if it helps, I'd like to not spend past 200$...thanks!

this is an extremly hard question to answer

there are many factors to concider

you may like bright highs and people will recomend a set with smooth highs.

the best bet is to take a listen at a local shop

take some cds with you and try em out

personally i like cdts mids and tweets

they are very smooth and do not distort

they get loud but there is no break up

I have ES drivers and tweets and 560 crossovers.

I listento ALOT of trance/techno/euro and thr set up slams,i can feel the kick in my pants

the tweets are really smooth and are not harsh at all

a good set of components will play all music genre's well. and there is no best. your best bet would be to read around on caraudio.com or even better diymobileaudio.com.

what amp is powering them? how much power? listening at extreme levels and avoiding distortion only happens when you have enough power to do so. IMO the processing and power is more important than the speakers themselves, to an extent of course. with enough EQ power and enough wattage (as long as you know what you are doing) most speakers can be made to sound acceptable.

but of course there are some speakers out there that just breakup and no amount if EQ or power will fix it. for example try avoiding metal coned mids if you plan to run them high into the mid-range.

to the OP: crisp, dynamic and lively comes as a result of using plenty of amplifier power. you can't get good dynamics at high volume with a wimpy amp. so make sure whatever components you buy you get plenty of power to go with them.

if you really want great sound then it's going to cost ya.

I'm looking into an Alpine Mrv-F545 for the amp, for components and subs. It's either that, or keep my Clarion APX4360 and power the components with that. I've read good things about Focal 165 A1's, their entry level speaker. Anyone have any opinions on thosE?
