Finally installed my F700BT today... first things first... here's pics!
I mounted the mic on top of the steering wheel, to the side. Haven't played around with it too much yet. But that seemed to be the most "out of my way" spot. The GPS receiver is mounted under the dash on top of the double vent at the top of the waterfall... someone pointed out that spot in another thread and it seemed to work just fine. So thanks to whomever that person was for the idea... :)
I've never had any decent receiver, so I can't really compare features of this and that to any of the others. I do like it so far. The iPod integration is awesome. Mine stays locked away in my glove box now and I have an extra cup holder again!
It IS bypassed. AVIC411 has the details and it's cake. I just grounded the moved mute wire and the parking break wire right into the wire harness ground. No problems so far.
Install wasn't that bad. I had a few extra steps b/c I had to run RCAs and a remote wire to my amp (was previously using signal and remote wire from the OEM sub harness). But this helped in running the reverse sensor wire b/c I had the interior pieces pulled up already.
It does take a while to boot up. Probably 1 min + before any music or anything starts playing. And even while your previous source starts playing, it is STILL booting up. And mine does appear to have the latest firmware. |

| Actually I love the touch screen. No issues at all yet. Seems very responsive considering a lot of what I've read. |

Just made a new spash screen for it... not sure yet if I'm going to keep it... but here it goes:
BTW, there are instructions for adding a splash screen in the manual. Just put it in a Pictures folder on a SD card or USB stick and go to the Settings to change the screen and there will be a Import From... option at the bottom. It will copy the screen you choose to memory and save it.
This ONLY shows up when it's booting though. No idea on how to get a custom background on it yet.
Will try to get pics of my system booting with this tomorrow. I need to go to bed now... |

| I played with the F900BT in best buy, and its pretty sweet, but I think the one on display has the old fw, it was quite un-responsive and a bit of a delay. I am quite impressed with the navigation though, it looked really sweet! |

I was wondering if someone would get that... haha.
Thanks guys... I'm still happy with it so far. Boot up time is a PITA... but it's gotten to playing music just under a minute after power on. And is fully functional after another 30 seconds or so. |

| I do have it... but haven't really used it at all yet. From what I've read the sound on the other end is awful. But I'm guessing that might be partly depending on mic placement and road noise and such (windows down?). Not sure. I'll have to try it out and post back... |

yeah the sound on the other is bad, but window up and down, it could be the mic placement or the bluetooth or mic itself is not good..
sometimes the sound get better with the volume set very low |

I think your mic placement could be your problem with the echo.
Try placing the mic to the right of the rear view mirror. You can use the clip to attach it to the headliner and run the wire down the A-pillar and under the dash.
I've got a Z1 with my mic located like this and have had no echo problems at all.
Other than that, the install looks great. |

| Thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep it in mind. I actually haven't tried the mic more than a couple times with the iPod. Will have to see how it goes. |

mine is in that location and the other person on the line is the one hearing the echo, the voice coming out is so far clear.. im gonna check the wire if its looped or near something that can cause interference |
