| Yeah you have to do primer and clearcoat otherwise it will look like a wrinkly bubbly old butt. |

flea has access to all the legit stuff you need to do it right, which is why his looks so good. as for me, i dont have any of the stuff needed, i have a garage, but it isnt' sealed off, so dust would whirl around and contaminate the wet primer/paint/clear.
so i ended up taking to a HIGHLY reputable shop that our agency uses to prep cars for photoshoots and am having them do it. i know it will get done right, and for $100 it makes me feel like im getting a decent deal from a place that knows there stuff. im hoping to pick it up this week and will install it as well. i'll post pix when its done. |

Take your lip, fit it on the car first (don't want to cut, dremel or drill new holes into a painted lip).
Once you have fitted it, remove it.
Prep the surface by wetsanding with 600 grit sandpaper.
Wipe the surface down with rubbing alcohol.
Blow compressed air on the surface via an air nozzle.
Lightly wipe down the lip with a tack cloth.
Lightly and randomly apply adhesion promoter to the lip.
Lightly and randomly apply primer to the lip.
Apply 3-4 coats of paint. Let the first coat be a light/even coat.
Allow time for the bascoat to dry.
Apply 3-4 coats of clear coat. Let the first coat be a light/even coat.
Allow the clear coat at least 24 hours to dry. If you're using a clear coat with a hardener allow 3-5 hours to dry.
Wet sand with 1500 followed by 2000 grit sandpaper, if needed.
Buff, polish, wax, if needed.
DONE! |

| Well if you got it painted for 180 and on ebay this lip is bout 120 shipped so its like $300....would have been easier then just to buy a carbon fiber one right? |

If you drive easy and know your limits as far as your height, go for it. If you are normally careless and have caught yourself scraping places already than CF is a bad choice. It will crack, not bend.
I got a CF lip for $225 shipped NEW, and have scuffed mine a bit but i'm lowered on s-techs, so even before the lip I had to be real cautious and avoid lots of routes as to not scrape. My car with the lip, the front is about 4 inches off the ground max. Doesn't clear speed bumps, but it just scrapes a tiny bit so oh well.
If you aren't lowered go for it, but just remember, CF will snap not bend. |

^^Yes and no. It all depends on the bump/pothole that you hit.
I've got the TRD springs and RS1 lip and I scrape every now and then. |
