|
|
About to order a new tC but I have a couple questions....
1.Is there anything I should know about the car as far as any major "known issues" such as bad transmissions, bad brakes etc.?
(I am planning on purchasing the 7yr/100k extended bumper to bumper warranty)
2.What kind of MPG do you guys see in CITY ONLY driving with a the Automatic transmission??
Thanks![/b] |

| IMO i wouldn't buy the extended warrenty unless you were going to buy a used car but since your buying a new one and you already get 36000 3 yrs, you should be fine. Also if your planing on having aftermarket parts on it, i would let that go... GL w/ the sale :) |

1. None that I know of.
2. 26-28 mpg city.
3. Do not buy accessories from the dealer!!! The only accessories I'd recommend for dealer purchase are the
Spoilers and Ground Effects kit. (Too much of a pain to DIY, IMHO.) Check out trdsparks.com for your accessory needs. |

| I've had my 09 for about a week. I love it. Its a manual, so I cant comment on city mileage- although gas mileage is not its strong suite! |

| if u want any aftermarket parts like trd springs, trd supercharger, lip kit etc. have it installed on the car with your financing because they are a lot harder to get after you buy the car if you are on a tight budget |

| The known issues that I know of from first hand experience is the paint is cheap and there are rattles that get worse as the car ages. Other than that my car hasnt had any problems. I get about 22 mpg city, but I drive hard and have a few mods, nothing crazy. As mods go, if you are buying them straight from the dealer you are going to pay more. If you dont have it in the budget to be able to buy them without tacking it on to your car loan then just do it that way. Otherwise there are a lot of after market parts you may like a lot more than the trd things. |

| i love mine, and to be honest, never really noticed any rattles til i started modding it, like it was stated before, if you arent much for working on your car yourself, and want some nice simple mods, have them order it with lowering springs, lip kit, ect!!! and be sure to buy white!!!! haha |

You said it....Toyota should really issue a TSB for a (free) clear bra. lol!
But yeah, get a clear bra ASAP...I regret not getting it on day one :( |

i get the occasional rattle here and there, mostly from the trunk lid or something. sometimes going over speed bumps to fast, the spare tire will make a klunking sound, almost like you hit something. i like to burn corners alot, and the tires arent the best. sometimes, the reverse lockout on the manual will lock you out even though you are stopped.
overall though, it is a fun car, and the pros definitely outweigh the cons. for a $17,000 car, those minor flaws can definitely be overlooked. |

Is this something you know for sure about the 2009 models or are you just carrying this complaint over from previous years?
As far as we know, Toyota may have reformulated the paint or added something to it to make it better than before. |
