i got pulled over today leaving my house the cop said he pulled me over for my headlight tint. he aske y is your headlights tinted. i said to protect them. he told me i have to take it off then told me to roll up my windows and asked y are your windows tinted i said i thought 35 was ok in NJ. he took my info and come back told me if he see's me agian he is pulling me over and i am on a warning list and will have to go to court.
i told him i leave for school in a week and i am not taking my car that im not going to remove anything. the cop said ill pull you over before then. then and told me to go.
see they are doing road work on my road and the cop sits there to watch and when i left my house he turnned his lights on and came and got me.
can anyone find me a link for NJ state rules if you can have your headlights tinted because i no alot of ppl that have them done..

| According to tintlaws.com, any tint on the front side windows is illegal. |

basically if the cop is hounding you as much as you say he is, you have 2 choices.
1. leave it on and get tickets.
2. take them off.
you can't change, or talk your way around the laws. |

NJ Statute
Title 39
Sections 3-46 to 3-84
Unlawful Vehicle Modifications
I'd do the research for you of the specific portion of the law, but the Statutes portion of the NJ website is somehow broken.
Most states, you can't do after-market stuff if you want to be street-legal.
If you remove the offending stuff and show proof in court as well as explain that you didn't know, that would usually get your citation cancelled in court. I say 'usually' because you never know what sort of judge you'll get. Some are outright a-holes that don't care about any sense of fairness or leniency. :nails:
Sometimes some minor citations cannot be issued unless the officer had stopped you for a more serious offense. |

| Tint on headlights is not expressly illegal. But the HIDs are, so he's got you one way or the other. |
