So I've been thinking about taking the cold air pipe off of my Injen and just making it SR... I haven't really been able to find any real info on this to see which would be better. At least, which would be better for the low end. I want something that'll help with autox, and I think a chunk of my time is lost coming out of corners... so if I had a little more on the low end it would help to a degree (sure, an LSD wouldn't hurt either... but I don't have $1k + install $ laying around).

Just using this thread as a VERY rough estimate of the difference...
http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=92108

It looks like the SR would have a little more on the low end... but lose a little max power. Is that fairly common? Would it be worth doing? I mean, it could also be for the look I suppose... and easier access to the filter for cleaning... but I don't know if the difference would be worth the hassle.... if there is really a difference.

I know it's been pretty much declared that if you get the Injen, might as well put on the CA extension and not bother with just the SR since it makes more power... but what if I'm just concerned about low end power and torque?

Just throwing this around and looking for thoughts... thanks guys.

Should I bother?

I would say you will see no difference in reality. The SR draws hot engine bay air. And neither make a noticeable difference. I would just stick with what you have unless you just like the SR better.

As a good measurement.. if you want to go through the trouble, put your stocker back on. Since you are already used to the louder noise of the CAI, your brain isnt being fooled.. and you will notice zero difference in power.. meaning it gained you no power :) I ran a CAI on mine that someone gave me (looked nice.. sounded ok). Could tell no difference either way in power.. although my fuel economy was slightly worse with it on (which it should be contrary to CAI manufacturers :P ).

The SR will make it easier to clean the filter.

Ya, I figured ultimately that it wouldn't make any noticeable difference... I just get bored and thought I'd pop the question.

It'll be interesting enough to see if the pulleys make any difference on Saturday.

I have the stock intake with a K&N filter with the baffle and piping that leads to the fender. It does seems to get louder at 3.5k rpm. Would the CAI be a lot louder..?
