| Alright, I am going to try to explain my problem as best as I can. When I get my tC up to higher RPM's, (4000-6000), it feels like it cuts out. Almost like you ran out of gas for a split second, and then it kicks back up. By split second I really do mean quick. Its just a blip in the acceleration. The only things that come to mind to me is either a misfire, dirty mass airflow sensor, or like I said, the misfire. I kind of have to rule the misfire out because I just changed my plugs and put the NOLOGY silvers in, and it was doing it with the original plugs. Any help would be great. ITS ANNOYING. :tap: |

| I have a new word for ya, it feels like a shutter. Almost like you hit the rev limiter for a split second. Its weird, I know, but I figured I would see it at some other point in the RPM range. But its only when I really get on it. |

| did you throw any codes? the best plugs from our cars are the iridium oem ones, but since it happened with the oem it could be something else.. how many miles you have on the car or any mods you have? |

| I don't believe so, it just started happening not too long ago. Since it started happening, I haven't changed anything. I do have 105k miles on my car, but I haven't had any trouble with it. All maintanence has been kept up. I have only used Mobil one synthetic since I bought it, new plugs, I just cleaned the air filter just in case. Do you think maybe i'm not getting good combustion? If thats the case, maybe I need to move to premium fuel. Now that I think about it, the little blip happens almost right when the VVT-i kicks in. |

Yeah, the best place for nology plugs is in the trash can. The stocks were a million times better and will run for 100,000 miles or more.
Is it throughout the range between 4000 - 6000 or is it just at the high end? Just making sure you are not hitting the rev limiter. Does it do it every time, or just randomly? |

| vvti is always on in our cars unlike honda that where vtec kicks in on higher rpm.. the car has some good miles on it already maybe some deeper maintenance is necessary.. but your maintenance includes cleaning the maf, throttle body, fuel injectors, fuel filter, good battery charge and hmm what else? and no check engine light right? try resetting the battery and see if everything goes back to normal |

| WOW, I wouldn't have thought nology plugs would be bad. I have heard such great reviews from tC owners, and I used them in my 240sx, and loved them. I will have to so some research, and check out the oem plugs. Thanks. |

| definitely sounds like the plugs aren't able to keep up with the voltage demand (hence "spark") when you're at higher rpm's. might have gotten a bad plug, better pull them and look at them again. But yeah the oem plugs are pretty good, iridium tipped. So if you can't find anything wrong with the nology plugs, just put some oem's in and watch the engine not have any more problems. |

Well, he had the issue with and without the nology's so that is most likely not the issue. But I have never liked Nology (for one they make a conversion from COP to remote coil pack and wires for our car... worst idea ever and nothing but a ploy to sell their crappy "hot wires") and some of their "low resistance" plugs will burn up stock coils on many cars. Denso Iridiums (stock plugs on the tC) are worlds better.
Fuel filter is in the gas tank and does not need to be changed or serviced for a very long time.
You can try cleaning the MAF (it is very easy, just buy some cleaner from the autoparts store) to see if it helps. If you run an SRI or an oiled drop in filter, there is a good chance you have oil on the MAF from that if it is over-oiled. Besides that, with no codes set, it is very hard to troubleshoot any further over the net. |

Nice childish attitude! It was a thought that perhaps since he purchased Nology plugs then perhaps he has the wires too. It does not say for sure one way or the other. |

Yes.. that was a childish attitude. Children always read the whole thread before making assumptions.
Anyhow, back on topic -
OP, if you've tried all of the "regular maintenance" stuff, you may want to check your coils to see if they're running within spec.
On each plug, take a voltmeter to the 1st and 4th connector and check the voltage. It should be between 9v and 14v.
If that's ok, you may want to check your camshaft position sensor.. check the ohms - they should be between 835 to 1400 ohm cold - or 1060 to 1645 ohm while hot. |

Alright guyz, heres the deal. I am going to clean my MAF, and check the plugs for the supply voltage. BTW, I don't have the nology wires
Just to add to my description of my problem, I was a bit mistaken. I said it was a split second change. It is in fact lasting all the way through the high RPM range, I noticed it on the way home from work today, and got on it a few times. It is most noticable in 3rd gear. For instance, if I am cruising at 60mph, and downshift to third, she will jump, but then it almost feels like I am letting off from full throttle to about 3/4 throttle. I am going to check into all of your ideas, and also check my fuel pressure. It could be a blockage in my fuel line somewhere. |

I am definitely not hitting the rev limiter. My post above explains further into my exploration of the problem. Its weird.

| ok it "might" be this, the gas pedal has the stop metal once the peadal has reached full throtlle but mine when i would apply pressure it would cut my engine like you say so i bent the metal up to make the pedal travel slightly less. ok it was my fault because i was trying to see what the car would do if i pushed the throtlle 100% to the floor but the sensor would cut off my engine |

Well everyone, I had two problems, for one, the piece on the gas pedal was bent, so I bent it back, and that helped a lot, but there was still a bit of a stutter to it, so I ran about 4 gallons of Cam 2 through, and now she is right as rain, I really do want to thank all of you for the help, and I am guessing I had either a gummed up injector, or a small blockage or something. I will see how she does this weekend, and as far as I am concerned, its fixed. My Dad gave me the Cam 2 and said if its a fuel problem, this should set it straight, I guess he knew. Thanks again. |
