I am thinking about converting my xB to run on Ethanol. Several stations have started carrying it in my area. It would still be able to burn regular gas (which already contains 10% ethanol FYI) Right now, it is $0.60 cheaper than regular. It would take 50 tanks for the conversion kit to pay for itself ($269.99). I would also be supporting USA fuel sources immediately.

The kit takes about 10 minutes to install.

What do you all think?

Your fuel economy will likely drop to the point where you're not actually saving money at all, plus you'll be supporting the worst way to make ethanol for fuel (though not the worst way to make ethanol for booze). Corn is the last thing that should be used as fuel, as it takes more to produce than the crop actually yields.

Ethanol? e85? So its like 15% gasoline?

I dont know, I have heard of people mixing the two as most cars can burn a little ethanol, however motorweek had a segment on it and said its a lot changes like valves, hoses, sensors, computer, etc.

Plus its not really that earth friendly. Ethanol is only green when its made out of waste plant material, not fresh.

Well first off you'll have to change out your fuel lines since they don't support ethanol. Secondly and most importantly is that the car probably isn't going to run right since it was never designed to run on E85. The computer is going to have to be set up to allow for the car to use more fuel and change the timing curves. E85 is like useing race gas...they have the same octane rating of I believe 115. And as stated before you'll actually be useing more of it than gasoline so you probably won't be saving anything. Ethanol doesn't produce the same amount of energy like gasoline when burned, so you need more of it to equal the same energy as gasonline.
