About a year ago I posted about camping in the ole xbox ( http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=203901&highlight= ) and then never got the chance to give it another shot till recently... Was up at the Mohican Bluegrass Festival in Ohio and camped out in the box. This attempt went MUCH better!
1st attempt last year with the 2x thick queen matress...
This time single thick double matress, gave me much more breathing room, didn't interfear with the horn and best of all the doors shut
With the new over head storage on the roof rack big enough for all my gear including a tailgating grill, in dash DVD, and a small cooler on the passenger side front floor board all that's missing is a toilet for perfection! Best of all I can have it ready to sleep or hit the road again in 5 - 10 min! |

That is a nice setup!
Back when I had my old Taurus wagon I actually made custom curtains for the express purpose of sleeping in the back, they were shaped to the inside of the windows and attached to snaps I added to the inside trim panels. there was one big curtain that went down behind the front seats so that area became default luggage storage area while camping. Worked pretty good altogether.
Now after seeing you setup I want to try camping in the xB. I think I'd make some sort of curtains to cover all the windows as I need it dark to sleep. Maybe reflective plastic attached to the body above & below the windows with magnets. Hrmm.. got to ponder on that one, my g/f has been talking about how we should do some camping. |

I've seen curtains for the xB, think most are custom though...
Puting up the sun shades in the front window and tinting up the back windows is good enough for me for now.
I've got a couple other ideas I've been kickin around like a window fan and screen for the back doors :lalala: |

Very NICE puz06xb, i've done similar with you but i only use comforter, and they weren't that comfy!!!!! Which size air mattress did you buy? I want to make sure my will fit like yours! I'm going to road trip in a month or two to canada. I live in southern california, its going to be a long trip.
I have ESAM visors and last time i slept in my box, I let down all my window about 3-4 inch down. It gave me good ventilation.
good job! |

I've never camped in mine, but if the opportunity/need arose, I wouldn't hesitate to do it.
Beforehand, however, I'd get some window screen and cover up an open window or two (hold it up with some blue masking tape on the inside) for ventilation/no bugs. |
