| there's a guy i go to school with that has a green tercel about the same year as yours with a big hideous aluminum wing on the back and a big old fart can muffler. hes always revving his engine thinking it's a racecar. the thing sounds like my lawnmower (the push one - my riding lawnmower sounds meaner). this guy is completely misrepresenting toyota and i wish someone would just backhand him. |

1991 2-door, maroon dx... 82 hp coupled with the 3 speed automatic tranny... pure driving satisfaction... power nothing... no AC...
i would post a pic, but there is something about oxidized maroon and massively curbed hubcaps that just says no...
that car never failed me though... and still runs like a champ... |

| 83 tercel HB, my first car I owned here in US back in 1993. man that car is soo fun to drive! good pick up, and go for street driving. you can leave it anywhere(door unlock) without any worry that it will be stolen or burglarized. but then, axle starts giving up, headliner falls and flopping(while driving on freeway) I was with my girlfriend(wife now) when it happen, very embarrassing, so I decided to get the 90 celica. |

| Anyone have sites for the older Tercel's? 81-85? I've always wondered if anyone has done any easy engine swaps... a 1NZ-FE w/5spd swap would be nice! |

Try checking out http://www.tercelonline.com
There is a lot of good Tercel info, and on the board - there are a ton of people with the older models that might be able to help you out.
And to answer your question.. I'm sure swaps have been done it, just can't remember what engines right now. |

i had a 97 tercel ce 2dr w, eibach springs, cai, ractive exhaust, strut bars and 16" konig villians, and a lot of audo oit had 190,000 miles on it and ran perfect i loved that car! i traded it in on my tC.
my tC felt like a race car after being used to the tercel's 100hp motor!
good luck with the tC youll love it but the tercel is great too, just hard to find parts for |

| Oh yea, and I have a Paseo - same thing. Used to have a Tercel - most reliable car I've ever had, but no A/C, so it had to go, hehe. |

Since when? I really doubt a few Tercel people on a tC forum will be have a lot of that knowledge - TO will have a lot more detailed info for ya- and no, you don't have to pay to post.
Just IMO - you could easily do a swap and be better off then you were before, if you have the contacts or expertise to try it... but it's really up to what you're capable of doing. |
