Autosinsider.com Sneak Peak
2007 Toyota Supra
By Paul Lienert
Engineers from Toyota Motor Co.p. visited Germany's famed Nurburgring racetrack last month to test a prototype sports car shrouded in mystery.
Spy shots of the session have provoked widespread speculation on the identity of the vehicle and Toyota's production plans.
Among the outrageous guesses are that the prototype is a mule hiding either a 500-horsepower V-10 engine or a high-performance hybrid powertrain.
Sources in Japan say it?s likely an early test bed for the next Supra, pulled from the U.S. market several years ago because of poor sales.
Toyota insiders say the reincarnated Supra should reach the market in 2006 as a 2007 model. The rear-wheel drive coupe, being targeted at the Nissan 350Z, will be powered by a twin-cam 3.5-liter V-6 and priced from well under $30,000. |

| ahh, you know how it is, toyota and lexus are the same thing basically, i figure that if they have that car under the lexus name it screams "high class sports car" but under toyota its like "oh a japanese sports car" because you know...the US is kinda dumb like that IMO |

Sadly, I don't think I could ever love anything that does not look like the Mark IV. If it is in fact a genuine supra, you bet i'll be trying to gobble one up if i can get my greasy hands on a Mark IV by then.
Just not digging the IS300 either :( |

You know better than to think Toyota will keep that wing on it. I think from the side it looks beautiful, but that front end... |

Actually - Lexus is now a global brand. They have separate design studio's from Toyota's regular models - and all new Lexus models from now on will only be Lexus models - they will have no Toyota counterpart. All of the new Lexus models emcompass the "L-Finesse" design language.
This shot looks like it is indeed the LF-A concept - which will mean this is not the new Supra. |

| they need a sports car but as most enthusist have agreed it shouldn't be under the supra name. that legacy should be left to be what it is. not something a car should have to live up to with todays emmission standards and such. |

| If they're coming out with a new supra, thats not it. That article is almost a year old, and predates the unveiling of the LFA concept, which, guess what, is what is pictured in that photo. |
