Best Spark Plug?

Hey yall im about to buy some spark plugs and was wondering what you believe is the best plug for performance. Thank You

draxcaliber 07-14-2007 01:18 PM

you already have the best spark plugs you can buy. denso iridium. anything else would be a step down.

KillaSpiceTSW 07-14-2007 01:21 PM

Wow

Seriously the Denso Iridiums are the best for the TC. Theres this place Bumper 2 Bumper where I live and they sell these new Autolite XP plugs and the guy there told me that those will outperform any plug. If you say the Denso's are fine I wont waste my money then. Thanks

trust me, alot of people usually upgrade to denso iridium spark plugs. toyota gave them to us stock. ngk and borsch are good brands too. but nobody wants to change the spark plugs on their tc unless they are going turbo and want a colder heat range.

Nice..

Thanks man. Wont waste my money.

Glad you got the right answer! Even if you go FI and go colder, I would still buy denso.

Not all TC's are Denso OE

Trust me on this one. Not all TC's are OE Denso Iridium. They can also be NGK Laser Platinum. Either way you have a good plug.

engifineer 07-14-2007 06:39 PM

Where you have you seen that? Every spec from toyota or anyone I have seen is for Denso Iridium. That is who supplies most of the electronics for Toyota.

Stick with the Denso, they are great. I replaced the plugs in my 20 saturn with Denso and it ran better immediately.

Unless you go heavy PSI from F/I application the stock Denso iridium plugs work just fine. In fact I've tried the Bosch Platinum +4 plugs and they actually started messing with my MPG and engine startup.

True. Denso is basically Toyota. However, dealer level documentation are heavy on Denso. When you look at the manufacturing side this will be a different story.

Case in point:

The Camry engine, same configuration as the TC, 2.4 ltr is about 50% Denso.

Either way, Denso or NGK you have an excellent oe plug. I wouldn't change a thing unless you have higher end engine mods.

is the dealership the only place to get the denso iridium plugs

sciontc_mich 07-22-2007 01:23 AM

you can get them at other auto parts stores.. but from what I've seen, the toyota part is in better shape (side electrode bent more precisely) than the auto part stores part.

stay with the toyota part, unless you want to buy one of each and see the differences. I know i have personally observed the differences.

EDIT UPDATE: Just took a look at a friend's tC, NGK Laser Iridium were in there from the factory! So the part the toyota dealer is selling is Denso. If you want the NGK then most auto parts store can get these or have them in stock.

Just pull your plug first to see which is oe.
