there are washers on the drain and fill plugs. Don't not over tighten them. One member was leaking tranny fluid after over tighten the drain plug. sorry i don't know the size. |
do not need to be changed, and definitely not the same size as the motor oil drain plug

thanks for the replies. as soon as the weather breaks i'll put your info to use.

an update, and a couple of notes
the drain and fill plugs are both 24mm, and make sure you use a very shallow socket or you will not be able to fit a ratchet on the drain plug. when you open the drain plug, be prepared for a rush of gear oil. it comes out with a lot of force and flies into the control arm and splashes everywhere. i filled up with a pump and the fill hole on the side of the tranny to avoid removing the reverse sensor. overall, it was a really easy job. |
How much fluid will I need when I do this myself? I'm going to Change it as I dont think it's been done since the car was brand new.

You'll need 4 quarts of fluid when filling the transmission. Are you Auto or Manual?....Reason I ask is because I just changed my Auto trans fluid and I had to use a 10mm hex head to unscrew the drain plug....I'm sure its a lot different on a manual. Like the previous post stated, be ready for oil to gush out as soon as turn the drain oil! Also I had to go to the dealer and pick up the WS type transmission fluid because that's what my 07 tC used.

I'm manual.
